Early 2020 some experts said the only real solution to COVID 19 virus was herd -immunity? Here's where we are today;
Apparently those experts were correct after all.
Apparently those experts were correct after all.
So were the experts that said we needed an effective vaccine and isolation and testing and a six foot cushion. How many more would have died without all the precautions that the experts told us we needed. Dr Fauci was castigated during the worst of the pandemic right into his retirement and after by fake doctors like Rand Paul. Imagine the death rate if we left COVID ro herd immunity from the beginning.Apparently those experts were correct after all.
I read about Fauci contracting West Nile. I hope he recovers.Oldgater, speaking of Dr. Fauci, he is very ill with West Nile Virus. Society is embracing herd immunity according to that NYT article.
Yes, without the vaccines every society around the world would have been decimated; just like the American Indian societies were by European diseases.
Yep! Don't go out whimpering and whining, but rather dancing and singing "wow, what a ride"!I suppose if Covid has not killed you, you are going to continue living until you do die. If you do die, well .... there's really nothing you can do to stop "that" from happening anyway. Everyone is going to die someday. You can't make it "not" happen! So, make peace with yourself, your fellow human kind, and your "maker" while you can, and live life to the fullest.
Go camping! Let the rest of the world and it's troubles blow on by!
Maybe as a scapegoat but Fauci was in the right place at the right time to get us through the worst of COVID.Oldgater, every tragic event must have a scapegoat. Dr. Fauci was in the right place at the wrong time.
I too wish we could look into the future to see the results of our present actions, instead of having useless hindsight. I guess that's why what we do is named forecasting.
Except for possibly the vax in a limited way, the other precautions were later proven to have been mostly ineffective. Even Fauci himself said the 6-foot cushion was just a made up number because they felt they needed to say something to placate the masses.So were the experts that said we needed an effective vaccine and isolation and testing and a six foot cushion. How many more would have died without all the precautions that the experts told us we needed.
Probably not really much more than eventually happened anyway. Except we would have gotten through it a lot sooner and not had it drag out over 3 years. IMO, of course.Dr Fauci was castigated during the worst of the pandemic right into his retirement and after by fake doctors like Rand Paul. Imagine the death rate if we left COVID ro herd immunity from the beginning.
That is all speculation if all the restrictions did much and did Dr Fauci not admit that they really had no data on the 6-foot cushion?So were the experts that said we needed an effective vaccine and isolation and testing and a six foot cushion. True; but the results would've likely been similar to the flu epidemic of 1918-1920.Probably not really much more than eventually happened anyway. Except we would have gotten through it a lot sooner and not had it dr
I can't completely agree with that as there were an estimated 50 million deaths attributed to the Spanish Flu. To date, there are an estimated ~7 million who have died from covid. I believe we would still have had about the same number of deaths this time, except the vast majority would have died during the first 18 months and then rapidly tapered off.True; but the results would've likely been similar to the flu epidemic of 1918-1920.
I was thinking of the percentage of population, not actual number of deaths.I can't completely agree with that as there were an estimated 50 million deaths attributed to the Spanish Flu. So, in theory, we wouldn't have gained anything, mortality-wise, but we would have gotten through it much faster and gotten back to 'business-as-usual' much sooner instead of dragging it out for 3+ years and closing down schools and businesses and completely upending our economy.
"Sweden stood out from other countries, stubbornly refusing lockdowns, school closures, and mask mandates. This was highly controversial and many outsiders saw it as a dangerous gamble with human lives. From a Swedish perspective, however, it looked like it was other countries that were engaging in a dangerous experiment."

Sweden's pandemic strategy has been described[citation needed] as trusting the public to act responsibly: instead of wide-ranging bans and restrictions, authorities advised people to remote work if possible, maintain good hand hygiene, and practice social distancing, while those over 70 were urged to self-isolate as a precaution.[24]This is the guy who was involved in Sweden with their decision making.
Rand Paul was an ophthalmologist that created his own certifying board that was not recognized by any hospitals. He thought he knew something about infectious disease but based on his questioning of Fauci it seems he doesn’t.What makes Rand Paul a "fake doctor"? Is it just because you do not agree with him?
The guy was a power-hungry fraud from day one.…Fauci was in the right place at the right time to get us through the worst of COVID.
