So were the experts that said we needed an effective vaccine and isolation and testing and a six foot cushion. How many more would have died without all the precautions that the experts told us we needed. Dr Fauci was castigated during the worst of the pandemic right into his retirement and after by fake doctors like Rand Paul. Imagine the death rate if we left COVID ro herd immunity from the beginning.
 
Oldgater, speaking of Dr. Fauci, he is very ill with West Nile Virus. Society is embracing herd immunity according to that NYT article.
Yes, without the vaccines every society around the world would have been decimated; just like the American Indian societies were by European diseases.

I suppose if Covid has not killed you, you are going to continue living until you do die. If you do die, well .... there's really nothing you can do to stop "that" from happening anyway. Everyone is going to die someday. You can't make it "not" happen! So, make peace with yourself, your fellow human kind, and your "maker" while you can, and live life to the fullest.

Go camping! Let the rest of the world and it's troubles blow on by!

Oldgater, every tragic event must have a scapegoat. Dr. Fauci was in the right place at the wrong time.

Except for possibly the vax in a limited way, the other precautions were later proven to have been mostly ineffective. Even Fauci himself said the 6-foot cushion was just a made up number because they felt they needed to say something to placate the masses.

Probably not really much more than eventually happened anyway. Except we would have gotten through it a lot sooner and not had it drag out over 3 years. IMO, of course.

That is all speculation if all the restrictions did much and did Dr Fauci not admit that they really had no data on the 6-foot cushion?

What makes Rand Paul a "fake doctor"? Is it just because you do not agree with him?

I can't completely agree with that as there were an estimated 50 million deaths attributed to the Spanish Flu. To date, there are an estimated ~7 million who have died from covid. I believe we would still have had about the same number of deaths this time, except the vast majority would have died during the first 18 months and then rapidly tapered off.

So, in theory, we wouldn't have gained anything, mortality-wise, but we would have gotten through it much faster and gotten back to 'business-as-usual' much sooner instead of dragging it out for 3+ years and closing down schools and businesses and completely upending our economy.

"Sweden stood out from other countries, stubbornly refusing lockdowns, school closures, and mask mandates. This was highly controversial and many outsiders saw it as a dangerous gamble with human lives. From a Swedish perspective, however, it looked like it was other countries that were engaging in a dangerous experiment."
 
There is a bright side to the whole covid fiasco. A lot more people (including me) got proactive about their health and started eating healthier. Also, awareness of the medical industrial complex and it's tentacles into government and media is gaining traction. Many are starting to realize they are chronically ill by design, because there's no profit in healthy.

I was thinking of the percentage of population, not actual number of deaths.

I had conversations with several people about this exact thing even before I heard of the Swedish issue. I told them that if the govt would simply say, "This virus is a pretty serious problem. But because we are in the early stages of figuring everything out and don't actually know what we are doing, and we know that the vast majority of adult Americans will do the right thing, we trust the American people to take the necessary precautions to protect themselves, their loved ones, and their neighbors. Here is a list of suggested practices...", everything would have been much different/better.

Instead, they basically said, "We have no clue what we're doing but we're going come up with a bunch of made up rules, shut down schools anyway, make businesses shutter their doors, and throw our entire economy into chaos because the American people are idiots and expect the govt to provide and protect for them in every facet of their lives. And we're going to keep at it until well after everyone knows we blew it and messed up the entire thing. And as a side benefit for us, we now know just how far the public will let us go and how much we can get away with because there were literally people calling the authorities on their neighbors for mowing their lawn without a face mask. We like an ignorant and subservient populace."

And that is exactly how things turned out.

The guy was a power-hungry fraud from day one.

He was the “expert” that told us to wear masks that didn’t work, inject ourselves with vaccines that didn’t work, stay six feet away from other people with absolutely no scientific evidence that it would do anything, and got kickbacks from the big pharma companies that made billions in profits pushing their useless vaccines.

The Covid death numbers cannot be trusted, either. During Covid, if someone died in a car accident, but tested positive for Covid during the autopsy, they were counted as a Covid death! Same for heart attacks and other non-related deaths that were counted as Covid deaths when they were not. The numbers are vastly inflated.

The entire Covid-19 episode was the biggest fraud ever perpetrated on the world. And Fauci was the ringleader.
