Decorative remodel. Has anyone done a decorative remodel of 2016 or thereabouts itasca navion 24j or Winnebago view? I want to recover the headboard, so how do I get it off and back on again? I would like to either paint the wallpaper or put peel and stick wallpaper over the current. I would like to recover the valence and maybe remove the shelf above the bed and replace with real wood or maybe cover over with wood veneer. I plan to do more but the bed area is my first focus. I see lots of ideas on Pinterest and instagram but they are very different types of rv’s than the view and navion. So again would like to hear about any decorative remodel on these motorhomes

The Winnebago parts books may help you with the assembly of the unit. Pick which serial number group you have.

Navion (500)
Also while I'm on the website and since you gave the exact model........... here are the wiring drawings.

And the plumbing drawings.
24J (Serial Number begins with 70538U1)Drainage & Water
24J (Serial Number begins with 70538U2)DrainageWater
Water Feature Code: 1BU

I will suggest you down load all of the applicable PDF files to a thumb drive and keep the drive in the binder with the manuals in the black pouch, when you are on the road they could come in handy.

I'm going to go out on a limb here, and suggest that recovering wallpaper or painting it is great, IF you intend to keep the RV for a long time. Many buyers, and I'm one of those, will walk away from one that has been renovated in such a manner (I'm an originalist) as I prefer it the way it was built.... generally. I do make certain mechanical and functional improvements (I owned a 2007 View) but shy away from cosmetic changes unless the condition dictates otherwise. I look at everything from a resale viewpoint.

My current Bigfoot trailer was something that I almost walked away from. The previous owners had made changes largely to do Youtube videos and win awards at fiberglass trailer rallys, and some of the stuff was botched up (in my opinion). Luckily not much, and there are things which I will eventually restore back to original, ie, they put glass in SOME of the overhead cabinet doors, but failed to use tempered glass. I have to be very careful to make sure that nothing in the cabinets can break the glass. They gave me the original wood inserts for the doors, but disassembling the doors a second time is virtually impossible with the glue and brads they used on them.

I'm going to suggest you join the Winnebago View/Navion groups on io.groups. This is done in the old groups format and was rolled over from Yahoo Groups when they ended their groups support.

Main Discussion group for View and Navion

Modifications and improvements discussion group for the View and Navion

Technical discussions for the View and Navion

You have to sign up for each of the three groups separately, and moderators will approve you. Select to NOT receive email subscriptions, it will drive you nutty, as you will be inundated with emails for every discussion. This is the original View and Navion group, started in 2006, with a few of the original members still participating. There are photo albums, and some databases that are helpful also.

There is a View and Navion group on Facebook but I do not do FB and do not know anything about it.
