Callie, our beautiful and happy Golden Retriever crossed the rainbow bridge Sunday morning. She was 13 1/2 years old. We found out for sure that she had stomach and intestinal cancer last Wednesday. The Vet said she would let us know when it was time. She let us know early Sunday morning. That form of cancer is very aggressive and typically not detected until it's way too late for treatment. She went from perfect health to gone in a very short time. It was our hardest goodbye ever. We loved that sweet girl so much.

Callie has been my avatar for a very long time. My new one is Poppy. She is now 5 1/2 years old. She is not dealing well with not having her alpha around.

We are sorry for your loss. Callie had a very dignified "sugar face." Bless you for giving her a loving home.

This is hard, our four legged friends are gone far too soon. It hurts and will for some time but try to remember the joy she brought into your lives.

Sincerest sympathy. We lost our Duffy 18 months ago and still miss him. Sometimes I swear he's here watching me, waiting for a treat. But I look and he's not here.

My condolences, to both you and Poppy. When our Collette suddenly passed Charley wandered from room to room for three days looking for her. Take comfort in knowing you gave her the very best life a dog can have.

Oh it's just, awful losing a pup. Really breaks your heart. Sending hugs.

PS Great photos of her, she was obviously well loved.

We've never had children, but have rehomed three Great Pyrenees. Every time one passed away, a bit of us went too. We know how you are feeling.
So sorry for your loss.

Sorry to learn of your loss. I can relate since I lost two cats last year. i still think of Tarzan every day. The pain does not diminish. BTW the second shot in the first post is the money shot.

We have had paintings done for each of our Goldens that have passed. You can find online places that will paint a picture from a photo you send. We just do the head shots and then hang them in the house as a way to remember them.

So sorry. It sucks that our hairy kids have such short lives.

Thank you all.

Tom, I shot that money shot with the lighting I used for weddings - back in the day.

JayArr - I have two paintings of Callie. One was done by an aspiring artist who worked for me and the other by my sister-in-law, a very talented watercolor artist.

When we first got Callie I though she was never going to 'fluff out' and turn into a real golden. She fooled me by turning into a golden supermodel. She was so curly! We called her 'Curly Girly' quite often.

I probably have over a thousand pictures of our pups.

I wrote this piece in the months after Callie crossed the rainbow bridge. It was a lots of work. I first had to learn how to do this kind of orchestration with my audio workstation. I wrote the main themes on guitar and translated them to piano. If you listen closely you can hear the two intertwined guitar parts. You can also hear a fair amount of string squeak

It is my tribute to our Callie Muddypaws and is named simply "For Callie".
