Again a little off the beaten path, but we're on our way to the Winnebago Factory Service Center in Forest City, IA, and it's the most direct route.

It's a fine highway with at least two lanes in each direction, sometimes 4 in urban areas.

From Iowa City to Cedar Rapids there was quite a bit of construction, continuing a bit north of Cedar Rapids. Even in the construction areas there were at least two lanes in each direction. They are replacing the main lanes, so created temporary lanes in the median area. They're a bit narrow, but not too bad.

Going through Cedar Rapids, there are TWO sets of permanent, automatic speed cameras in the 55mph zone. The northbound set is right before the speed limit increases to 60. Exercise due caution.

Entering Waterloo, the freeway ends and there are about a half-dozen sets of traffic lights, but re-starts again just north of the downtown area.

From there to the junction with I-35 it was smooth sailing.

However, the short bit of I-35 was unlike the rest of the day's drive. The road surface was rough, and it's single lane traffic in the vicinity of exit 193 and lasting a mile or so. Many drivers were ignoring the 'lane ends' signs and forcing their way in, causing a backup of nearly a mile. Once in the single-lane section, it was a bit smoother.

Fortunately, we got off in Clear Lake and took County roads up to Forest City.
