Overall, not a bad trip.
I-49 was quite nice all the way to Opelousas. There were a few bumpy areas, but nothing like up in the Shreveport area.
In Opelousas, we headed east on US-190. There were areas where the roadway was baby-butt smooth, a couple of areas that were really bad. The worst areas were usually when passing through a town. Overall, I'd have to rate the overall route from Opelousas to Baton Rouge as below average.
Moved onto I-10 in Baton Rouge. There was an accident that cause a moderate backup, but once out of the city, it was smooth sailing over a better-than-average road surface. The Pontchartrain Causeway was in good shape and traffic moved smoothly.
Once off the causeway, it was hit or miss. The various bridges with concrete surfaces were pretty bumpy, but not worrisome. The blacktop between the bridges was a dream to drive on.
We had to pass all the way through town and to Belle Chasse, so had to spend about 10 miles on surface streets, which were not good, but not as bad as they could have been. The right lane was almost always worse than the left lane on LA-23.
