Hi there! Trying to get the generator going on a 2006 Roadtrek 190 Popular in preparation for sale. It will probably need a new carburetor because it's been sitting. Meanwhile, I cannot get the generator to turn over, at least with the starter switch inside the van. It does nothing. DC Lights inside work. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Roadtrek probably has a house battery separate from the chassis battery. Do the DC lights inside work any time or do you need the engine running or shore power connected?

Probably need to access the generator and attempt to start it from the switch inside of it.

Pic is of my 2008 Propane 2500 but the switches should be the same, same basic unit. Remove the front cover and it is on the left side. Sorry, the switch does not show, its an inch or so out of the pic to the left.

Gas models require you hold the switch (inside or on the unit) to the off position for a period of time to prime them. Do this prior to starting it, but first you need power to it.

Did you try to start it at the unit itself? There is a primary switch on the Onan, the remote is on the inside of the coach. Mine did the same thing. Mine would start via the start switch on the generator but not from the remote. Does the remote/primary red light flash any codes? That'll be the place to start after the primary switch.
Does it crank and not start or no crank? IF it'll crank but not start the propane regulator AT the propane tank(s) is most likely your problem. I took my Onan out, replaced hoses before finding out that the regulator life span is only about 10 years. Mine was 13.

Lights will work on little or no voltage. You need some amps to get the relay solenoid to engage and turn it over. Find the house battery and test it.
