Clearly never been on a lake in the West or they would never risk a high dollar MH out there!  I've seen houseboats coming in to dock at Lake Powell with waves going in the front door and out the back door.  No way could that rig keep stay put on top of that barge.

I was thinking something very similar. Fair weather only.
 
I like the concept, but I'd want RV tie down anchor points added if I was buying one. I think making the outside pontoons foldable towards the center would be good for transporting it without needing an over wide permit.
 
Bet you could buy a nice used houseboat for what you'd end up investing in a much less seaworthy vessel.
 
First time I"ve ever seen one of these or a Motorhome. but I've seen car/barge conversions where the car drives a treadmill that moves the boat.  (if it's convertible) or the drive shaft is dropped to the prop if it's a permanent conversion.
