Has anyone had experience with rope lighting?  I would like to know what kind to buy and do they come in lengths so you can put out short or long sections at a time?  What kind does anyone have and where did you get it?  Thanks!

You can buy it in standard lengths, typically 12-13 ft, or order custom lengths (& choice of color) from online sources. We have done both.

The round, 1/2" and 3/8" diameter models are pretty much a commodity item these days, so I don't think it makes much difference where you buy. Lowes. Home Depot stores, Amazon online, etc.  An online shop called http://www.1000bulbs.com/category/rope-light/ offers a wide selection.

There are also flat (tape) strings that may be of interest to you as well. They are typically 12v but have 120vac adapters available from the same source. You buy them in fixed lengths and cut to fit yourself.

There is also a Thread on here that talks about LED strips. You may want to look for that as it is quite informative.

I recently bought some LED rope lights from WallyWorld one is 16' and the other is 48'.  They have other lengths.  I previously used some 25' incandescent rope light that I had have used for the last 5 years but lately they started burning out in sections.  I love my rope lights on the ground around the RV.

We like them as well, and use them around the out side of the RV.
