Plugging the trip into Mapsource, from Camp Verde, taking 160 all the way to 666/491 then up to Cortez then over to Monticello added 61 miles. If we go that way we'll go from Camp Verde to the Ute Mountain RV Park, just south of Cortez, then on in to Moab. I don't see any other way to bypass the construction.

I'm not sure the 1 1/2 hours of extra driving time for that long of a detour is worth not just putting up with the delays. Also, that route is no where near as scenic as 191. Of course, if you are looking to fit in that casino stop in Cortez, that's another story ;D ;D

If it were me I would take my chance & not take the 60  mile reroute around the road work.
The delay really depends on when you get there if you arrive you might get there with no wait or if your luck is like mine you will be the first one they stop so you have the full delay. There may be some unpaved sections but you will be going real slow so that should be no problem.

If you decide to come through Cortez & stop at the Ute Mountain Casino RV park it is a nice park. Full hookup sites are $19.99 W/E $17.99.
Also if you have not been to a Colorado Casino our gaming is call Limited stakes gambling, that means the most you can bet at one time is $5.00

I agree that the detour wouldn't be worth the 61 miles. Just downloaded current construction into my new Streets & Trips and the construction zone looks to be only about 5 miles long just south of Monticello. We'll chance it.

You  have a good time at Moab. I think Sharon and I might be making a mistake by not joining you there.
