Any experience with this product?  Maybe other ideas?  I want to put a bike rack on the back of the 5th wheel. I don?t want a ladder model. I think the bumper is light, but this produced claims to provide support to any bumper and can haul 400 pounds. Good reviews as well. The other option I see is to put a receiver on the frame, but the bottom of the trailer has the polar package and I?d have to tear out insulation.

I am going to mount a generator( 250 lbs with carrier) to the back bumper of my fifth wheel. Looking to see others comments.

The issue I?m having is the total lack of info. The dealership says to ask the manufacturer. The manufacturer says it will hold nothing which is obviously untrue, there?s a tire in it. They say if you take the tire off you still can?t transport anything. They?re just covering themselves legally. The number is eighth inch steel. The obvious problem is twisting, and this product should stop that.

I agree, my RV frame is a box beam welded to the bumper 4X4 continuous steel box. I have no doubt it can hold the weight of the generator it is the bouncing and twisting that may cause the welds to fail. It looks like the Safety Struts will eliminate the twisting. Especially if installed per the manufactures instructions of having it per loaded before it is bolted down. I thing I will give it a try.

We used 4 of the safety struts to shore up our bumper for a bike rack about 18 months ago. So far they have worked very well and we have traveled some very rough and bouncy roads. DH was not sure the set of 2 would be enough support, so he doubled it just to be safe.

He didn?t think the welds looked like they would hold up very well to the extra weight and you know that old saying ?better safe than sorry?!

Good luck!

For about $30, you could add a twice as much of your own steel in the shape that fits your needs.

On a previous Trailer, I carried 4 bikes on a bumper hitch.  I was worried, so I added a large Eye bolt up high, and ran a rope from the eye bolt to the outside bike to take some stress off it.  Don't know your set-up, but maybe something like I did  :)  Cost is pretty minimal, use a decent washer on the inside of trailer.  It's an aid to the set-up, not a cure.  ::)

Looks like the weak link is self tapping bolts

I purchased the product. I have a tube frame, and to bypass the self tapping bolt issue I got longer bolts and just went all the way through.

This product is really good. There is zero flex in my bumper even with about 80 pounds of dog kennel and a spare tire attached. The product advertises to 400 lbs. The reviews are nearly unanimous in support when you look at sites and I can see why. If you are looking to put something on your bumper this is the way to go.

I saw that posted on a YouTube video and I will do that as well. The main reason I wanted support, besides expensive bikes, were the dog kennel panels that weight quite a bit more than the bikes.
