I may purchase a small RV about 500 miles away, and have the vehicle transported to me.? It might be advantageous to me rather than me flying there and driving it back.

Has anyone had any good or bad experiences using these services?? I'm thinking of possibly using Dependable Auto Shippers, Inc., if the price is right.

Thanks...

the last dealer I bought my MH from provided delivery anywhere in the US.  At that time, Jan. 2002, he charged $1.00 per mile on the one way distance or about $1200 which was about 2400 round trip.  I imagine that the cost is much more today though.

Check with the dealer.

I know of a few people who use RV delivery services, including a blind guy who doesn't own a tow vehicle at all. He just calls a service when he wants his trailer moved to another campgound.  Sorry, I don't know which one he uses or even if it is alwas the same one.

I've never heard a complaint about the professional services, so they must be fairly decent in general.  I would use one that specializes in RVs' though. I looked at Dependable Auto Shippers web site and they don't provide any further info on RV transport procedures and RVs are apparently considered to be "Other" in their automated quote system.  Try searcing for RV transport or RV delivery to find some RV specialists.

Another option might be to ask a dealer for contact info for one of their delivery drivers. In maby cases, the drivers are RVers themselves who do this kind of work for additional cash.

Are those those new RV's towing a beater toad that go by us doing 85? ;D

Don't know what they charge to deliver an RV, but in June we paid $750 to have one of our Lincolns shipped out here.? I couldn't fly back there and then drive it with stopping at motels, which I hate ( Worked on the Road in Sales once).? Probably could have found someone or someplace to do it for less,? but the they delivered to the door.? That was from St Louis, Mo (12 Miles into ILL) to here at PEM 20 or so miles west of Phoenix.? hat being said? most RV Dealers have people or know people that will deliver anywhere in the country.? I had one quote for that for $1100 plus expenses to have our MH and trailer with care inside, delivered here.? ?It can get expensive if a great distance is concerned.? Check several RV? and Auto dealers for their delivery people.? Good Luck and happy RVing.

Thanks for the replies. I ended up buying a different RV which happens to be in a town that I can get a train to, so the seller will meet me there, which will save having to use a service.

What I found out with Dependable is that they price each RV separately depending on size, as they use car carriers if possible, and a class C will fit, but because of the box height, it takes the room of 2 cars that would normally be stacked.? I flatbed transport would obviously be more.? Makes sense.
