We just purchased a Newmar Ventana and are excited about out new adventures! It does not have a dishwasher and we are thinking about installing one or getting a countertop dishwasher. It will be mostly the 2 of us, but we think it will save water from what we have read. What does everyone have or think?

Our DW is a little noisy at times, but very pleasant and runs on chocolate, see below. (In truth we both clean up after ourselves.) When we were full timing the space that would have been used by an oven or DW was too precious since we needed every square inch. Saving water was never an issue as we could still go a week with modest showers and only one load of wash. The washer and dryer were certainly a needed device.

Similar to Domo I’ve had my dishwasher for over 28 years. Lil slower but still does a pretty good job. I assist from time to time. Sometimes a lil noisy when I’m watching TV but I’m getting better at tuning it out. God I love my DW. :p

We have a perfectly good dishwasher at home in the house. It never gets used. It's actually full of dishes for storage. Why would we want one in the camper?

Yet, some folks think the same thing about washing machines and clothes dryers.... why would anyone want one in their camper? Yet, we do. It's used almost every day.

So, basically, it all boils down to what you want. No two people "do camping" the same way. What giggles one person, nauseates another. So, although we do dishes by hand in the sink, there's nothing wrong about someone else doing dishes in a dish washer if this works best for them.

I have no response on dish water consumption though. Doing dishes by hand in the sink has never put us in a bind or jam with water usage though. But, we (almost) never boon-dock either. We always have access to water and a dump station somewhere.

I don't use enough dishes for one to be practical.
Though I have learned to bring a couple of glasses and some dishwasher soap along for inspections, now, as I see a DW in outfits at least once a month.

It is my honor to cook, serve, and wash the few dishes in our camper. Gives my bride of 50 years a break to kick back and "it's good to be da queen" for a change. (plus I often get a KP pass to fish with my buds)

Depends on your manual dishwashing style, I think. And your water-use habits in general. If you are frugal with water, e.g. don't run the faucet non-stop, I don't think the dishwasher is going to save any.

If saving on water use is really important to your RV stay, use disposable plates & cutlery. There are high quality such items readily available and they aren't very expensive. Here's an example.

I use paper plates, plastic flatware, and Solo cups. And, if there were paper pots and pans, I'd use them too. My gf recently became temporarily (I hope) disabled. I immediately purchased a countertop dish washer for her house since I am her caregiver. Only uses 5 liters of water per load. I love using it. Wouldn't get one for my small travel trailer because it would use up too much countertop real estate.

Our Tiffin has a dish washer, and we LOVE it, use it every 4th night as we go to bed. It is extremley quiet and does a fantastic job of cleaning. It doesn't use much water and since it was already installed decided to try it out. Once we discovered how well it operated, it is part of our routine now. Can not imagine us buying another motorhome without a dishwasher.
