RV Door "Scissor" Mechanism Sticks in Open Position

When I open my entry door on my HR Neptune XL, the "scissor" mechanism at the top of the door gets stuck in the open position.  In order to open the door, I have to climb the steps and push the scissor mechanism inward, then I can close the door.  This is a very irritating problem.  Any ideas on how to fix this?

Use a broom handle?

I assume you have tried lubricating it.

It is not sticking that sense.  Since my post, I noticed that there is a catch in the top scissor and a ball on the lower scissor that is to catch in a pocket of the top scissor that should stop the door from traveling further into the open position.  Both of the scissors (see photo) are very loose, which is why the ball doesn't stop in the pocket and the catch does not engage the top scissor.  I need to know if there is a way to tighten the scissors to make their contact more deliberate and close.

Looks like that assembly would be fairly easy to replace if all else fails. I don't have that type on my gasser so not too familiar with the problem.

Hopefully someone with a diesel will chime in with a solution.

At $200 to replace I can see why you want to repair.
The only thing I can offer is in the middle of the arm there is a pivot. See if you can peen that pivot tighter. I suspect it is wearing.

This may be a replacement if you can figure which one

I've only seen these on HRs and they are always problematic,, the center pivot brad gets sloppy when worn and needs to be tightened in some manner.  Ether hammer the center pin to thighten or drill it out and replace it.>>>Dan

My previous coach was a Monaco Diplomat with the same type scissor mechanism my solution was replacing it it a 10lb gas strut. It turned out so well my neighbor did the same no more sticking open no rattling going down the road. Ordered all parts on amazon for like $35.00 Monaco wanted 187.00 for new scissor hinge.
Google Monaco scissor hinge replacement that's where I found the solution. I don't have the coach or I would attach a picture. Good luck
