I have the RV 4000 generator in our motor home and found a surprise. A rat nest in the generator.
I have managed to trace down all but 1. The solenoid for the gas shut off has two wires. One to ground and the other I assume is a hot wire. I can not find where I thought it should go. Any idea where this should connect up?

The service manual and wiring guides are available for download as a PDF though you will need to know your exact model number and spec code to get the right revision.

I found this installation manual, may not apply to you but here is the schematic. Item E2, ground one side and J1 pin 12 to board A1

It is part number 30 and screws onto the bottom of the card.
Oh, that thingy on the carb. What color are the two wires that go to it?

Unfortunately, I am a few hundred miles away from my 4K genny.

But I think you can probably figure it out with an ohmmeter. I think you will find a ground lead on both the wire and the carb.

But by that diagram, it looks like one is a ring terminal so that one is most likely screwed to the frame somewhere. That means there should only be one wire to connect.

But right now, I cannot even remember what that thingy on the carb does. Perhaps shut off the fuel pump when the carb fuel bowl is full?

Old installation manual, may or may not apply. 3 parts in order to attach.

It blocks the fuel jet when you shut off the ignition so fuel doesn't pass through to the hot muffler and backfire as the engine winds down to a stop. It needs 12 volts to let fuel pass.

I have figured out 7 wires they chewed off. This one is attached to bottom of carb and there is also a ground wire. I have the ground wire in place but the other end of this on has disappeared.
This is what it looks like and the wire I am talking about is the red which turns to white after the connector on the end.
Also this is not my unit but a picture of one that still has the wire attached.

Thank you has helped a lot. I do have the pdf of the wiring and it looks a lot like what you have there. Also the numbers are almost the sand yes going the computer. So now to fish around and see if that wire came from the computer and under the motor and up to the connector.
There is hope!
Thanks so much I will report back tomorrow.

Yes it does. I just do not know where the other wire is at to connect it back up. If it was chewed off leaving a short end there should be a long end somewhere. I have a camera which has a flex line but have not seen it yet.

can you tell the color of wire on the short end? If you can, go to the computer and look around J1 pin 12 for a matching color wire. If you find the wire, pull on it see what it does.

If you leave the cover off when you're not using the genny for a long time, it will stop the rats from getting in there and making nests. They don't like to make nests where it is light.

Same goes for the hood of motorvehicles, etc. Keep it all as light as possible where you don't want the rats.

Coming off the solenoid it is Red. It is then attached to a white wire.
I just pulled the computer again and all the wires are also white. Thing that puzzles me is from the computer to where the solenoid valve it is probably 18 inches. I should be seeing a wire dangling from where it was chewed. There is a small wire loom near by and has one wire in it and that goes to the computer. Because it is split I opened it up and could see at least 8 inches up into it. Only one wire can be seen.
I am sure all this wire is doing is opening the valve when running and you would think it comes from the computer and goes to both switches.

The wire is red then attached to a white wire which is the one chewed off. The rest of it has no where to be found. I would think it would be laying right there. Unless they ate the whole thing.
