Safely pull a 4,000 to 5,000 pound TOAD

I ordered a 2007 Jayco Seneca 35 HD with a Durmax and all the Options. Don?t know the exact weight yet, except GCWR is 26,000/ GVWR 22,000 dry weight/ app. 16,500. We want to pull a ?Toad? four down. My question is can I safely pull a 4,000 to 5,000 pound 2006 Jeep Commander or Grand Cherokee?

If you don't exceed the GVWR, you can tow 26,000-22,000 = 4,000 lbs.

Depending on how much or little payload, you could tow more than that. Just add the payload (people, fuel, other fluids, LPG, stuff) to the dry weight and subtract it from the GCWR to determine max towing capacity.

You will not be able to tow any more than your hitch rating. I would venture a guess that is 5000lbs. I may be wrong. You also do not want to exceed the GCWR rating which appears to limit you to 4000lbs if you are fully loaded. By all means, weigh your coach once you have it loaded for travel and be sure it doesn't exceed any of those numbers!!

I think you'll find both Jeep models are well above 4000 pounds.
