A member traveling in New England with a new-to-them 2020 Lance 2285 asked for Schwintek slide service recommendations after hearing ugly noises from the upper left corner, finding metal shavings, and seeing the lower left corner remain about an inch out when retracted. They had already tried several resynchronization procedures and believed the issue was not likely to be fixed that way.

Another member recommended B&B Auto, Truck and RV Repair in Farmington, New Hampshire, saying they do...

We're on a one-month trip in New England with our new-to-us 2020 Lance 2285 that has a Schwintek slide system and we're having semi-serious slide issues.

I've had lots of conversation on the Lance owner's forum and decided to look for a good service tech for this. (Is "good RV service tech" an oxymoron?). Anyways, can anybody recommend Schwintek service anywhere in New England?

FWIW, when going out, the slide makes pretty ugly noises coming from the top left corner (looking from outside). There are some metal shavings there, also. That can't be good. When retracted, the bottom left corner does not fully retract and sticks out about an inch. We've done several resynch procedures, but since the issue is on one side, that won't fix this. Complicating the issue is that it seems like Schwintek re-engineered this system since 2020.

So, can anyone recommend Schwintek service in New England? I don't want to drive to Lippert Service in Indiana, but will do it if I have to.

Thanks,
Murph

If you are going to be in the Farmington NH area, I would highly recommend you contact B & B auto, truck and RV repair. They do unbelievable excellent work. Give them a call at 603-755-9113 and see what they can do for you.
Farmington NH is located just north of Rochester NH. You say you are in Hopkinton. Is that NH? You don’t say what state.

Thanks for the tip, Rene, I'll give them a call. I won't be in that area, but I would certainly bring it there from Hopkinton MA if they can do the work. It's closer than IN. ;-)

I appreciate the help.

Did they appear to be quite knowledgeable. DAve is probably the guy you dealt with

FYI, Lippert has a very good online class on the schinwtech slide system. I know OP doesn't want to tackle the repair but knowing what is actually happening and the way it must be repaired to me is priceless.
It's possible it has been repaired in the past and the wrong version parts were used. There is actually I believe 3 different speed motors and if you change one side with the updated motor you MUST do both as there are 2 that use different speeds in the high 400 rpm & a 500 rpm motor

Thx, poohbear. The Lance owner's forum has pointed me there and also to a YouTube guy with lots of info. Learning about the slide is on my to do list. Like lots of others here, I just want to know. Plus, it isn't rocket science.

I'm trying to get a phone call with a tech at the RV repair shop just to talk it over. Lippert already told me my system is an an older system and repair means replacement.

Hi Murph. You’ll be at the shop this Wednesday. Just down the street about 300 yards there is a fabulous place to eat. They only serve breakfast and lunch. It’s called Farmers Kitchen. Well within walking distance.
If there anything you may need. Call me. I will send you a PM with my telephone number number.
My wife has a Dr’s appointment at 8:00 and PT for her hip at 10;30. I should be around the rest of the day.

Rene,
Thx very much!

I actually dropped it off last Friday because I was going to be gone. I'm up in ME right now.

I'll probably hear from them on Wed.

Appreciate the support,
Murph

I just realized a short while ago I never got a call. We're on the road tomorrow (Thurs) heading home and I'll give them a call.

Nothing, yet.
I called Thurs. The tech that was going to work on it has a family emergency and is out for a few days. What can you say to that? Not much.

Hopefully, early next week.

I appreciate your checking in.
