We have a couple little enclosures, but thinking about a screened dining fly so the cats have a little room to move around and can get their paws on real ground.
I don't think they'd be likely to nose their way out the bottom as long as we're with them, but was wondering what others have experienced in this arena.

What's going to happen when they see something crawling up the screening? Claws out would make a mess.

Good point. We've had windows open here at home quite a bit and no screen damage, but I'm sure the material on a dining fly would be a lot more vulnerable.
They do like to go after the bugs, they're only 1.5 yrs old.

There are cat tents that have a bottom on them. Do a search on Amazon on cat tents or cat playpens.
Yep, we're already geared up with the octagon tent thingy and the 6 ft long hoop tunnel. Both are pretty confining though.

BTW, on the subject of chipping-
When you bring your new pet for vaccines, spay/neuter, etc and they ask if you want them chipped-
If you say yes, they charge you.
If you say no, they still chip them but no charge. At least that's the way it works at our vet.

Quartzsite project this year was the catio. Chucked the outside TV, we don't watch that stuff when we're outside anyway.
$20 pet door and $20 cage from the junk guy at Tyson Wells. Less than $20 in hardware.
Still need to add hanger ropes to hold the shelf at 90 degrees (chains would rattle too much).

Enters under the kitchen sink so we can control access there with the cabinet door.

All our cats are chipped. We use a 12 feet Clam screened-in Pavillion tent with good results with our three cats, but we don't leave them unattended in this tent. We have small portable tents for each cat that we can leave them unattended for short periods. And we have strollers too. Two of our cats walk on a leash just fine. Our Maine Coon refuses to do so and dislikes all dogs too...

We love seeing the mountain lions that frequent our remote Oregon home too! Besides being leash trained, we trained our cats to come "home" when called too. One accomplishes this by using the command every time the cats are fed...and don't set them free on a full stomach...

Wish our cats were younger and leash trained. At 10 and 15, they're too old to start so they're going to stay in the motorhome when we travel. Don't think our popup screen tent would keep them safe but I'm interested in what you all are using. I've seen the window condo thing and like the idea. Unfortunately the wife is highly allergic to bee stings so we keep the screens pretty secure.

Wasillaguy, are you in Q now? If so, drop by the RVForum group this afternoon at 4:00 for Happy Hour. We are just getting ready to head for our last “official” activity - a trip to the Desert Bar. (But no activity at the officially unorganized rally is really “official”!)

Our cats like to look outside but dont like going out. Whenever we tried putting them on a harness and outside it always ended up us dragging them more than walking and us carrying them lol. They dont serm to mind being inside all the time.

our 2 cats are sisters and get along great but in the rv on a couple of occassions they would get spooked by outside noises and hiss at each other. After they calmed down things got back to normal.

Unfortunately we are headed west to see friends in Palm Desert area.

How's the road to the Desert Bar? Passenger cars go out there?

We've camped with our cats for almost 20 years., with 4 different ones in that span. All adapted to a leash quite well. One old-timer (he lived to 19) got so he needed to be carried back from our walks, so we got him a carriage and he really loved that! If we left him outside on the leash, he would climb in the carriage and wait patiently for somebody to take him for a ride!

I made a cat patio similar to Wasillaguy's when we had a 5W. There was a tunnel from the interior to the 5W front storage area, from which he could go through the bay door to his own personal patio. We only closed it at night or we were away from the rig for a while.
