Self Leveling Lap Sealant

I'm going to replace my ac units next week and while I'm on the roof I would like to clean up some old sealant with new. I use Eterna Tape and Dicor lap sealant years ago but it's showing age. I see there's self leveling butyl rubber sealant, and another synthetic rubber sealant also and wondering which way to go, Dicor is less expensive per tube than some of the others that are over 20 dollars per tube. Which type are you all liking?

I still use Dicor, as you said, 'years ago'. I simply wash my roof every spring, add a little to areas showing cracks, really not much needed. I've never had a leak (knock on wood)

Roof sealant is for people with too much spare time. I removed all the caulking 11 years ago and used Eternabond around the A/C and all the roof vents as well as the roof edges. It all looks brand new after 11 years in full sun in hot MS. No sealant is needed for 20+ years if you apply the Eternabond properly. I even use it around my stick & brick house.

But there are places where sealant is needed like around windows and doors. For that I use clear Geocel. The oldest application of it is 5 years old and doesn't have any cracks yet.

I use the eternabond on some seams on top of the motorhome but my coach top rolls down to the sides and I don't want the tape where I can see it, to me it looks like a patch job and BTW, I don't have too much spare time. LOL

Lots of good products available if you know the specific type to ask for, but Dicor 501-LSW is excellent and readily available. Their #1 roof competitor, Alpha System, has an equivalent product called Alpha 1021. Just buy some and move on. Butyl is used primarily for metal-to-metal and metal-to-glass sealing; it has no extra value that warrants use on rubber or fiberglass roofs.

If you have flat, smooth areas where a tape sealer (Eternabond or Dicor Seal-Tite) is suitable, feel free to use it instead of squeeze-on sealants.

i found that I had 4 tubes of the self leveling Dicor down stairs so that should be enough plus some Eternabond tape. I think I'm all good for this project. Thanks everyone for the help
