I have a problem with my water pump ... I looked up the problem in the manual. The pump will not shut off / runs when the faucet is closed. There is no water pressure. I suspect it is trapped air. The manual describes the problem but doesn?t give any details on how to resolve the problem. Is there anything I can do to clear the trapped air or ?prime? the pump. Please let me know if there is something I can do ... or ... do I need to have a technician work on it? Right now I have water pressure from the shore connection. We will move North within a week or so and I will need internal water pressure. Any help would be appreciated!

Do you have a water tank fill valve which allows you to fill the tank while hooked up to city water? If you do, that valve may be open and you're routing water around from the tank, through the pump, through the fill valve and back to the tank.

How much water do you have in your fresh water tank?

Tank is 2/3 full now, Checked proper valve position ... still just whirs ... this problem cropped up when the pump was turned on with an empty fresh tank.  That?s why I suspect the pump has air in it (cavitation) ... but it could be something else ...

Try just cracking the line on the inlet side of the pump. You should get water there. If you do, crack the line on the outlet side of the pump and see if you get water.

How long did the pump run dry? If it ran too long I'm wondering if damage was done due to heat/friction build up.

You may need to remove the pump and open it up.

I have a spare pump that I use a couple of times a year to transfer water from an auxiliary tank to my RV....sometimes, it will not prime. I have had to pull a vacuum on it from the discharge side (similar to siphoning). It seems that once I get water into the pump, it works just fine. I assume that the pump is at higher elevation than the tank. The pump is capable of pulling a vacuum, if the rubber valves seal properly. If the pump has been dry for some time, you may not be getting a good seal of the valves!  I don't know if that is possible with your system design.

Check the pump itself to make sure that it is intact. On our last trip something similar to this happened to us. All 4 of the screws that hold the pump body together had loosened and vibrated out. I pulled the pump out and reassembled it and all is well now.

I plan to replaced those screws with longer ones and add jam nuts or locknuts to the back where they protrude through the body.

make sure the filter housing is not leaking air into the line and check all the fittings going to the pump from the tank

Had the same issue with a 1 year old Shurflo pump when Leaving Florida 3 weeks ago. Mailed it to Shurflow when home they sent new one. Problem was in the check valve. This is my sent issue with these pumps In 3 years. They work on way down to Florida.  Aim guessing but thinking 3-4 months of city water connection is some how sticking this check valve with higher pressure of city water.  Iam going to pull my out of warranty one apart myself now and check the check valve in it. It did the same thing.
My Coach is 25 years old the first pump lasted 20 years. Been through 2 of this new design in 5 years.
Plan to put manual on off valve at pump outlet to cut water from pushing on that check valve for extended stays on city water.
That should eliminate future issues. Shurflow was good about the warranty but I hate having to fool with it.
Good luck

I think I went through three or four Shurflow (aka Noflow) pumps in about eight years so I switched to Aqua Jet (by Remco) maybe five or six years ago and never had another problem. I bought a spare at the same time and it's still in the box.

At the same time, check and see if the filter is plugged.

I went through 7 Shurflo pumps in 8 years, 6 of them 5.7gpm models.  I bought a FloJet VSD 4.5gpm about 5 years ago. It still works but performance is disappointing as it provides poor pressure/weak flo. John, what model is your Aquajet and does your Aquajet give good pressure?

Paul, I think my model has been discontinued but I'll look at my spare for the model number. I haven't had one issue with it and the pressure/flow rate is excellent - I like a good shower  :D.

Assuming this after winter storage, I scanned through this pretty fast and didn't see if anyone mentioned the by pass valve located near the pump that allows you to by pass the water supply tank and pump from a separate source which is normally used to winterize.

Otherwise if it's getting water and not pumping, it's broke. I would also assume that there is a check valve also to prevent backflow, this could be stuck closed.

I just started having the same/similar problem:

Set Wet Bay switch to "Water Tank Fill," power on water pump, water pump runs continuously, extremely low water pressure.

Set Wet Bay switch to "City Water," power on water pump, water pump runs continuously, extremely low water pressure.

Hook up external water, set Wet Bay switch to "City Water," power on water pump, water pump runs like normal, comes on with demand (open a faucet) turns off when closing a faucet, normal water pressure (40psi according to the inline regulator).

No visible leaks in or under the RV. The water pump is maybe 6 months old and has had minor use.

I?m the OP ... I spoke with a tech at the dealership where I bought the RV ... we troubleshot the pump and connections ... conclusion - pump broke, so I bought a new one on Amazon.  I installed the new one and I?m up and running again.  BTW, the Shurflow 4008-101-E65 or F65 are the exact same pump.  One version is used by the manufacturer because the electrical connections are quicker to install ... the other version has bare wire that you connect ... either way, no big deal.  I opened up the pump and one of the rubber valves looked like it was rotted and granular (not smooth like the other three pads), so that was probably the problem.  8)
