Kirk, help me understand. I'm confused why a "power probe" won't work. It can be used to test both the hot side and ground side of a bulb socket, can it not?

If the ground has too much resistance and still lights up the bulb in the power probe, does it matter what the actual OHM reading is if it's putting out light, since we're talking about a bulb socket?

Maybe I'm confused on what a power probe actually is. I'm thinking one of those screwdriver-looking things with a pointy tip, a bulb in the handle, and a wire that clips to whichever +/- wire or terminal you want to clip it to. I'm not an electrician so there's no doubt I probably have something to learn here.
