First, we did install a separate fresh water supply hose to fill the tank, never could figure out how to fill it through the city water port.
Everything was good for about a month, then we noticed water on the ground. We didn't see any leaks at first. We assumed it was from the fresh water tank or one of the hoses. We filled the tank after fixing a loose valve.
We both took showers. Went out on errands. Came back to a empty fresh water tank and a over filling grey water tank. That's what was happening those other times. How does it get into the grey tank and why only after we use it (water). Does the pressure from pump do something. My boyfriend thinks it has something to do with the water going to the toilet. Wouldn't that go to the black water tank though.
When we got back from errands it was pouring out of the grey tank. How can we get to the top of that tank to check connection.
If anyone has any answers please help

Welcome to the forum.
You are right as far as the toilet. If the toilet valve is leaking, it will fill the black tank. Are you sure it was the gray tank leaking and not the black tank?
tell us the year, brand and model of the RV. It may help.

2000 Georgie boy Cruise master. Yes I'm positive it's the grey tank.
Is there any way the fresh water can get into the grey tank without using the sink or shower.
We turn the pump off when we are done using it and we turn it off while the water is still running to release the pressure in the lines.
There are no leaks until we use the water.
We'll get water, take showers and then wake up to a empty fresh water tank

The gray water tank is not in anyway connected to the fresh water system. If it was, you’d always have the chance of contaminating your water system. A tank has two openings. One is for the drain piping from all the sinks and shower and the other opening is for the tank drain.

As others have said, the only way for water to to the gray tank is via a sink or shower drain. That assumes an unmodified water system, of course. You mentioned having added a fresh tank filler, so maybe there are other mods or repairs that might not be quite perfect?

Your next step is to pay closer attention to water usage and tank status before and after each use. And very few hours if not using water, so you can figure out when & where it goes. A couple showers can easily empty the fresh tank if you are accustomed to unlimited water at home.
