Some People are just stupid

The world according to Gator. "The only reason this wasn’t done when we were that age is because there was no such thing as a Chromebook. 😎".

We didn't have TV until I was 10 or 11.

Note, can't quote because ads blocking link. Interesting that ads do not interfere at IRV2.

The nostalgic references made me remember my cousin daring me to pee on the electric fence. Of course we never wore shoes on the farm in the summer. Instead I grabbed him and then grabbed the fence.
Reminds me of what a coworker once said, Some learn by reading, Some by watching, and some have to pee on the electric fence for themselves.

Discipline minus relationship = rebellion. If a kid at 15 is destroying property committing vandalism, that won't get fixed by starting now. These type behaviours don't happen in a vaccum, they're learned.
A 10 year old child of immigrant parents here committed suicide a few weeks back. Bullies at her school were taunting her daily that her parents were going to be deported , leaving her here all alone. Bullies don't just happen, they're home grown.
Then there is when there is no discipline or, similarly, consequences. News yesterday told of a teen who was arrested trying to come across the southern border. He was arrested but voluntarily went back to Mexico. Two months later he was arrested trying to cross again. This time he was arrested, processed, given a court date and was released. He skipped the court date and wasn't heard from again until he was arrested as part of a mob who attacked two NYPD officers. He was charged and realased without bail. He wasn't heard from again until he was arrested for a robbery where a security guard was injured.

Stupid is having rules/laws that some in the government see no need to enforce, to the detriment of the rest of us.

By no consequences and rules/laws that some in gov't see no need to enforce would that include using the power of the pardon to excuse members of a mob who assaulted police officers who were only doing their jobs? .......I'll wait......

... or proactively pardoning people have not been accused of a crime because the pardoner knows crimes were probably committed. We're all waiting...

[Author's note: I'll comment no further as it would probably lead to the thread shutting down but sometimes things just need to be countered with truth.]

Saw a guy blow up a beach ball full of some type of gas (acetylene maybe?) once. Lit it off in the park. Broke windows. We were behind a concrete block but still felt it like a bomb. Made the paper.
The gun club in Missouri that all my childhood buddies belong to did the acetylene trick with a balloon up like 30 ft. off the ground.
They had been doing pro level pyrotechnics for 4th of July for probably 15 years, had the permit from the local fire department.
"Had" being the key word. Spectators at the event were knocked backwards in their lawn chairs. Car alarms went off in people's driveways, windows rattled, in some unknown radius.
Fire captain was not amused by all the calls that came in.

You say we. You got a mouse in your pocket. We had a guy throw an M80 in a toilet at school. Blew the toilet out of the ground. Kids have been tearing up school properties, properties in general from the beginning of time. Tell me you never sat at a school desk that had names carved in the wood.
Yes, I have - back in the 60s.
You’ve never used a school restroom that had names and less drawings on the walls and stall doors? Soap dispensers ripped off the walls.
No, don't recall going to any school that had those things. And I attended 5 schools from elementary through high school. Worst thing I ever saw in a school bathroom was someone smoking.

No need to wait. You reminded me that you were on my IGNORE list due to your propensity to be triggered to create political conflict. I am guessing that the recent web page upgrade didn't carry those settings. Returning you to IGNORE list now.

Smokin' in the boys room!?? Everybody knows that smokin' ain't allowed in school!

I was a science geek in Junior High and High School. I can not begin to tell you the idiotic things folks did in science classes! And if they didn’t do it in class, they took the knowledge from class to make basic explosives and prank items. All of the desks in our science classes had burn marks, and many were not from planned tasks gone slightly wrong. And the high school took the doors off in the boy’s restroom stalls for many reasons, damage being only one of them.

In our HS sophomore bio class we got to make petri dishes with agar-agar in them. The teacher (Mrs. Sarah Grondstrand, still remember her) said to go outside and gather dirt, leaves, or whatever to culture it in the petri dish. My class buddy and I went into the boys room and swabbed the urinals out and rubbed the dish with it. Then we coughed into the petri dish. In two weeks when other kids dishes had a few spots in them, ours was growing over with all manner of nasty stuff. It was growing over the sides and I think it was bubbling and moving. It was awesome. We got an 'A'.

My 8th grade science fair project was analyzing the bacteria count on school drinking fountains and cafeteria tables. Let’s just say none of the culture plates were negative for E. Coli.

Isn’t some exposure to bacteria a good thing?

Likely yes why Kids of the 50s are often healthier than kids of today. We built up our immune systems playing in the dirt. I recall making a Hay Infusion in science class. Took a bit of hay (Cow food) dropped it in water and see what grows .. I also stacked the hay in ye old hay loft. Major exposure.

E. coli comes from feces. I am all for letting kids get household germs, but there was a reason mom taught me to wash my hands after using the restroom.
We used to like to squish fresh cow patties through our toes. And if you are concerned about feces stay away from public restrooms since I would posit it’s on just about every surface you could possibly touch. I would say that every surface public or private surface contains some sort of germ that has the potential to cause harm to the human body. We shake hands with abandon and do not run to the sink to wash our hands. How many door handles do we touch every day. How many times a day do we touch our faces? I think we get the point.
