Soot and Melted Carpet After Dealer Electrical Repair

i wish that you had left the soot until the source was determined. In studying the first pictures, it appears that the soot is on the molding next to the wall, but none at all on the wall. And soot is on the carpet, but none is on the vertical carpet. The pattern on the hardwood floor seems to indicate that it was blown in. If you have a large fan, it would be interesting to place it to blow on the outside in that area and see if you can feel air blowing inside in the area where the soot was located. Are you sure that the black stuff was soot and that the fibers were melted carpet?

I used to smoke but never saw a cigarette or cigar that would make soot like that.

I was guessing the slide was open when this happened. I'm sure it was soot and the edge of the carpet was heated to create those spors. But now I'm questioning everything.

Seeing there is no apparent damage to carpet in photos, I’m going with spontaneous combustion from something the remains of which are those thread like things.
I saw a ball of rags that had been used to spread wood floor stain combust on its own years ago.
Luckily it happened in a metal bucket.
Also saw a pile of rags, paint and thinner covered, go up in flames on its own on a cement driveway
This is as far out of an explanation I can think of.
Interested to see if it gets topped.

I got the RV back from the dealer and his explanation was a mold burst. I never heard of anything like that before but that is all he could come up with. So here I am. The good thing is there is no evidence below the carpet or base molding of a fire. It cleaned up with a wet rag. I'll shake my head for quite some time on this one. It is hard to believe that I didn't see this when I installed the first exhaust fan just days before I took it in.
