Sorry, I'm staying in the left lane

That's a quandry in Indiana, because by state law the left lane is for passing only, right lane is driving lane, and I 70 is in terrible condition. Indiana is considering turning I 70 into a toll road to collect money to help with maintaining the interstate. I completely understand why, I 70 is a near-constant train of semi's now, in both directions; plus, Indiana is so narrow semi's don't have to buy fuel here, so no money for road maintenance from fuel taxes.
Looks like I'll be using US 40 (national road) if that happens.
Not sure making I 70 a toll road will help with maintenance if you look at the condition of the Indiana Toll Road (I 80/900.

just look at how bad Oklahomas Indian nation Turnpike is maintained. It's been open since 1966 with completion in 1970 . Its pitiful. And the non tool tag fee is ridiculous.
Here in Texas some roads you can drive in the left lane and some are posted Left only for passing.Enforcement is rare but also be advised don't give out the one finger salute as its a " threat of aggression " and that could get ugly,

So you're "THAT" guy that I'm yelling at!! haha. Totally understand and I do the same thing. Nothing worse than the constant bump, bump, bump, BANG! as you are driving the right lane.

Many of the interstate highways are brutal, now, especially on the right lane. I have long tended to stay off the Interstates whenever possible. Though a lot of the US Highways are not a lot better.
Last week, Eastbound across Kansas was a DELIGHT! From the Colorado line all the way to Topeka, the roads and bridge transitions were amazingly smooth. From Topeka, I dropped down to Ks 10, which takes you around the south side of KC and back up to I-70, again. The downside? All the smooth roadway just makes driving across Kansas even less exciting.

That worked great for me when I went to south Texas a couple of years ago. I took what looked like small mickey-mouse roads all the way down and most of it was a steady 70 MPH and I was able to bypass all the major cities.

But too bad we cannot do that everywhere.

I travel that route all the time. My daughter is in Raleigh and we live south of Florence. I-95 in SC is one of the roughest roads I've ever been on. It will be nice once the construction is done, unfortunately that's taking so long the completed part of the road will be worn out before the new part is completed.

We could go to the grocery store and discuss the subject in depth.

So if I think you aren't going fast enough I can run you off the road?

Usually inexperienced drivers learn better but some never do.
Some just pull into that lane, cell phone in ear, and figure everyone else can just pull around them.
Me First!, even if dangerous to everyone else passing on the right.
Should have their license suspended for 6 months!

While I don't think talking on a cellphone while driving is a big deal (at least not in most cases with most people), if it were up to me, I would make texting while driving double the penalty of drunk driving.

I do not believe anybody can safety text and drive at the same time.

"Honk if you love Jesus--but if you wish to meet him--text!!!"

All distracted driving! Try driving in Europe where folks pay attention to their driving, no cup holders, no distractions, just paying attention to their driving road.

work, check out Falls Lake State Recreation Area and Campground in Raleigh. Holly Point CG off of Six Forks Rd. is awesome. We go every Spring to visit my brother in Raleigh.
Thanks for the heads up. I will go look tomorrow. We are headed up that way today to take them a generator. I'm guessing they are going to get dumped on this weekend.

Illegal to drive in the left lane in Arkansas! Left lane is for passing, more dangerous to pass on the right. Wish it was that way everywhere!
Indiana law reads: passing on the right is only permitted when the vehicle in the left lane stubbornly and illegally refuses to move to the right lane.
Indians state police are tough on left lane drivers.

CamperAL, I stay on US40 until Terre Haute IN, where I pickup I 70, which is approx. 7 miles from ILL. Presently I 70 East of Terre Haute is undergoing major maintenance, one lane at a time, which will take much longer to complete and slow down traffic to 45 MPH in construction zones. Completion is not expected until summer.

They need to add this to their law:

"As long as the right lane is reasonably well paved"

That will not happen, the right lane is designated the driving lane, left lane is passing lane only. Now it does not define passing rate, so if you are sloowly gaining on a car in the right lane IMO you are passing; the LEO however might interpret it differently.
