Time to hunker down. Southern people have no idea how to drive in the snow!
Up here in Western PA, it's just another winter day.

No.. and hopefully fill your propane tanks and gas for generator. Might lock down the city with that much cold for a few days.. could be a mess. Unfortunately I don't thinknow there is anywhere close to escape it!

It just stopped snowing here in west central Louisiana, we had 4-6 inches in the forecast, as it turned out we have maybe 1-2 inches on the ground and maybe 2-3 on the hood of the car. 45 miles south of here along the I-10 corridor they had more like the 4+ inches we were forecasted to get.

just
north of n myrtle beach. Been way colder then normal for awhile.
Depending on which app show up to 8". I find it funny being from PA.
But locals and snow.....yikes!
Went to tractor supply to top off propane. Generator gassed as usual and solar so all set. I forsee some knuckleheads taking down poles.

Guess we are snowbirds too far north

Snow Jan 2025.jpg

Outside in LA (lower Alabama) 3" so far and it's still snowing. Down here we look forward to a snowfall since occurs so infrequently.

We’re in South Carolina at the beach. Our first trip out of Ohio last year we went to Florida where there was a rare tornado near Pensacola, then a 100 year snowstorm in Tennessee on the way home, now 4” of snow where it’s supposed to be warm! Well at least we’re not in Ohio 7 below tonight they’re predicting.

See my post(s) about when it snows here in Dallas. The whole city is paralyzed. We got about 3 inches this year (we don't get snow every year) and people were waiting in line at stores for water, flour, sugar, and salt. Got have the staples when a BIG storm is coming!!

What about the toilet paper?
I always thought that was number 1 for stock piling

Years ago,my brother moved from Endicott NY to Charlotte NC during winter. People kept asking him what the funny rear tires tires were for.
He actually got pulled over for driving in an inch of snow. The cop told him only emergency vehicles were allowed on the roads.

Just looking at those pictures makes me cold. Mid 70's today with lots of sunshine. Next 3 days will hopefully bring some much needed rain. The temps are also forecast to drop about 20º.

For those of you that don't normally see the cold and snow, stay safe.

Freak snows do happen. March, 1973, 13 inches of snow in Columbus GA.

Winter of (either '59-'60 or '60-'61) Nederland, TX (between Beaumont and Port Arthur, near the coast) several inches, my brother and I got out and played in that. I think he has the family picture albums with those pics. I was about 4 or 5 years old.

The stores are accustomed to that in Dallas however. In September, October and usually November every Sunday morning is like Black Friday, right up until people start suspecting the Cowboys might not be the greatest team in the history of football again this year.
