Starting Full-Time Nomad Travel After Loss

My significant other passed away in early July from terminal leukemia. I stayed at her house for over a year caring for her. Now that chapter of my life is over, I decided to become a full-time nomad. In September, I'll be camping at a van life meetup in Missouri. Jonnie's Journey channel on YouTube is sponsoring the event. She also operates Midwest Van Builders. While there, she will make some modest updates to my travel trailer. Also, the event happens on my birthday which I'll celebrate with 60 other campers.

After the meetup, I'll travel to Quartzsite Arizona to boondock for the winter. I plan to attend several meetups and other events while enjoying the mild winter, beautiful sunsets, and dark sky nights. I'll return in March 2027 and stay in my stationary travel trailer on my lot in an RV resort for the spring and summer. So, about 6 months in Quartzsite and 6 months in my RV resort lot in Virginia. Looking forward to my nomad life.

So sorry for your loss.

I've always heard that after a passing like this it's not good to make big life altering decisions (like sell everything and run away to Alaska) but I think a healing journey sound great..

Enjoy your future travels and adventures. I have never been to Missouri but have visited Arizona a few times. It is beautiful. I hope to get back down there sometime.

Good point. But, I'm flexible. If the mood strikes me, I'll just change my plans. That's how I ended spending a week near Organ Pipe Cactus monument.

Quartzsite is not on the wife's short list. However if we do make it, I hope we'll be able to connect. Not sure who's going to be coordinating Quartzsite next year or if there will even be a rally. IIRC, Pam said she will not be doing it.
