The Delta Strummers have been busy rehearsing for our upcoming concerts. As always, our Music Director patiently helps improve our singing and playing, and lets folks 'try out' for various solo parts.
We currently have too many songs in the playlist, but they'll be trimmed shortly, so we can focus on the real concert program.
In parallel, several Strummers have been teaching a dozen or so 5th graders to play (strum) uke and sing a few songs. I understand they're making great progress, and the plan is to have the 12 kids perform a few numbers with the Band at the concerts.
The last time we did something like this, we donated a bunch of ukuleles and a group of us taught a larger group (approx 50-60) of 3rd/4th/5th graders in 2019. A small concert was held in the school for parents, and a photojournalist from a local newspaper captured a couple of the songs:
