"Was surprised to see you stopping in Bakersfield because we thought you were still in Brookings.  Where are you heading to?"

Lorna:

We're cooling our heels in Laughlin, NV waiting for the snow to cease on I-40.  We're headed to Farmington, New Mexico for a new workamping job.  After that, who knows?  I'm really excited about Ned's new Alaska by RV site.  Can hardly wait to read the journals.

Where are you going to workamp in Farmington? We're only 75 miles away and spend a couple of days a month down there doing jobs. It's cool and cloudy here today, supposed to rain and/or snow here and in Farm today and tomorrow.

Don:

Thanks for the offer -- and we WILL take you up on it one day.  This time, however, we're on a dead run to Gallup, then north to Farmington on 666.  Peg has been on my mind lately because Tom and I recently took turns battling a spring cold.  Whenever we're ill and feel like napping, out comes Peggy's quilt to keep us feeling warm and cared for.  ;)

Wendy:

Our plans are uncertain at this point.  We're reporting to Farmington for training and then could be sent almost anywhere.  I'll post our destination when we finally know for sure where we're going.  Our friends who did this job last year ended up being at Animas Mall in Farm for a couple of months before going to Sioux City, IA.  I'm looking forward to seeing Shiprock again and have been reading Hillerman novels to get in the modd.  ;)

Ah, Hwy 666....you sound like a local ! We have to remind ourselves when we're talking to people who aren't from around here to call it Hwy 491.

What kind of workamp do you do at Animas Mall??

Wendy:

I'm glad you mentioned 666/491 or we may have gotten confused.  We're far from locals having just driven through the four corners area on our way to visit Mesa Verde several years ago.  (And take the required all-fours photo.)  I remember we stayed at Ute Mountain Casino RV Park in Cortez and ate some delicious chipotle ribs at the restaurant.  My Street Atlas 2005 lists the highway as 666 but I just checked my paper atlas and, indeed, it does show it as 491.

We'll be babysitting a ride simulator.  I have no real picture of just what that is, but we have known two couples who have done this in the past, recommended it, and speak highly of the man and wife who own the simuators.  It's pretty lucrative as workamping jobs go, so we thought we would try it.  Another adventure for the Binningers!  I'll post more when we know more.

I love those simulators & ride them wherever I find them. One year they had them at QZ with 4 different programs & I rode them all.

What fun ! Mike and I have been looking at different workamp opportunities but never realized that ride operators was a possibility !!

You guys always have the most interesting adventures.  Please provide as many detail as you can when the time is right.  Ilove to hear how you "handle" retirement.
