The last movie you saw-- in a theater?

I'm reading that movie attendance in theaters is stable and rising. That goes against my thought that many theaters would die out given so many streaming options these days. So much for my crystal ball.

Had to think back but the last theater movie I saw was The Hateful Eight a decade or so ago. I remember thinking how downright inconvenient it was that I couldn't turn on captions! Bathroom break? Nope. Back it up to play a scene over? No way.

Obviously my preferences, to be able to take advantage of all these features in the comfort of my own home while eating my own popcorn, aren't shared by the crowds that still flock to view the latest/greatest mega hit movies. Oh well...

Kim and I go maybe 2 or 3 times a year. Normally we wait a couple of weeks for the hype (and large crowds) to die down a bit. Last one we saw was about a month ago - "Send Help". Several plot holes but lots of action/suspense and overall very enjoyable.

It's always fun to be in a theater and having a group disrupt the movie by making sounds or talking, noise, etc. so you can't enjoy the movie. Isn't Hollywood having trouble selling their "entertainment" these days? From what I heard.

Last Movie I saw was Star Wars "the force awakens" and that was five or six years ago. I'm more of a Star Trek fan, old generation, but that has died out.

went to the 100th anniversary of Harley Davidson up in Milwaukee in 2003 movie theater right beside the motel we were at. walked over and got tickets for Pirates of the Caribbean. popcorn $15 a bucket and the only ones in the show were my wife and I and one other couple.

I'm not sure when I was last in a theater (other than IMAX), but it might have been for 2001: A Space Odyssey, though I was in a couple of drive-ins in the early/mid '70s, when we had a "mini-motorhome." As you may surmise, I'm not a movie goer.

I do not often go to theater so it was a Star Was movie.
The one where Ren Tracked down Luke.

Lovely lady companion (Also an ST fan) went with me.
(That's part of the problem No lovely YL to watch it with)
Alas she still lives in South GA, and I'm in Mid-lower MI. these days.

Fun indeed.

One of the weirdest movie experiences we've had was the time we went to a movie in one of those multiplexes. We were literally the ONLY 2 people there. But soon after the movie started another couple entered. Where do you think they chose to sit with every other seat in the theater unoccupied?! Yep, sat directly behind us. We moved after a few loud sighs directed towards them.

One other memorable movie event was back when Blazing Saddles first came out they had some limited midnight showings for a dollar. What a hoot. The place was packed and yep, quite boisterous but in a friendly sort of way with everyone getting in on it.

Thanks, now I don't have to type it.
Exact same experience last movie we went to.
and these weren't kids, they were nearly our retired age.
Kicked my seat a couple times.
They're lucky I've mellowed. Younger me would have accidentally spilled my soda on them.

The second episode of the new Dune flick.
It's not as much fun to see a flick by your lonesome.
Think that was ours.

Want to see Project Hail Mary.

Our nephew who is starting to work in the industry reckons that all new movies will have to be shown in cinemas for a certain amount of time before being available for streaming. Not sure if thats true....

Honestly - I don't remember the last movie we went to the theater to see...or when it would have been. Got to have been at least 20-25 years ago.

We do have a movie theater relatively near our house along the Interstate highway and we always see a parking lot full, but they also have an arcade, restaurant and other attractions inside. Theaters are great for those who enjoy that, but for my wife and me, our recliners and 65" TV with surround sound are preferred.

(We have stopped by the theater and grabbed some popcorn a couple of times.)

My older son and friend when they were in high school used to hop from movie to movie in our local multiplex. Just occasionally busted.
