The vent to nowhere

Sorry for all of the different posts. Someone said in the first thread to post all of the different systems in individual posts. So this is some sort of after market vent that has a duct to nothing. The vent is right under the fridge and the duct goes to the storage compartment. Any ideas on what it used to be attached to would be great. Thanks!

It should be an outlet for your furnace, you usually will find more than one in your unit, the pipe you are talking about should be hooked to an outlet on the furnace.

Thank you guys all so much! I'm so glad I found this site. I'm far out of my element here. But I want to make sure that the thing is safe, structurally sound and not going to catch on fire before anyone attempts to use it.
