Hi everyone, I have an oldie Magic Chef fridge model R50/51. I need a new thermocouple and have searched everywhere for a part # with no success…I think it’s no longer available. Does anyone know if the universal ones will fit, or any suggestions? Thank you

Most all replacement thermocouples are universal-fit. They all put out approx. 4 millivolts of electricity to tell the gas valve there is a flame present.

Any appliance parts distributor should be able to look at it and get you a replacement.
Thanks to those that replied. We have looked at the universal ones...they seem to be mostly made for gas furnaces /stoves and the fitting too big for our gas valve. Will keep looking tho. Have talked by phone to appliance parts distributors with no joy. Will keep trying there as well. Good news tho...went to local dump, explained predicament to attendant, asked if we could look at discarded fridges for part, got the go ahead and found one that fits. Fridge working!
