In the midst of the Coronavirus crisis, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has demanded that truck stops stay open to serve the men and women of the trucking industry who are keeping the nation functioning.

As more and more U.S. businesses, including restaurants, close to try to slow the spread of COVID-19, the FMCSA has asked truck stops to buck the trend and to remain open in order to serve the trucking community.

In a March 17 letter to the National Association of Truck Stop Operators (NATSO), FMCSA acting administrator Jim Mullen wrote:

If thinks get really ugly I am pretty sure there may be fill limits, and restrictions to non-commercial users.

There are not many cars on the road here. Demand for gas will be way down.
Trucks will have an easier time on the roads and fuel will not be a problem.
Unless all the truckers are old geezers and get the c19

Same here. Traffic is way down. With restaurants, bars, casinos and malls shut, nowhere to go.

Along those lines, Smith's Markets (Kroger) has announced they will open at 7 AM Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays for seniors only, with the general public allowed in at 8 AM.
I found that shelves are not restocked until 9 AM or later....
Luckily we "seniors" are allowed in when the shelves are stocked for the "general public".

Kroger is looking to hire more workers.  I wonder if all those layed off will pony up for a temporary employment shift. My nephew who owns a restaurant said that his would, but not if they had to pass a drug test (weed).  Maybe these places will ease that restriction.  desperate times call for desperate measures.

Good news from PilotFlyingJ
Though it sounds like I may not be able to get their Bean Burritos. I live on those things when I'm on the road.

Lars,

You may have to go Old School.  I suggest that you, get a can of Old El Paso Refried Beans. Remove paper labeling,  cradle it on the exhaust manifold where the vibration just rolls the can...  Make sure you have those Tortillas in the center console, after about 100 Miles pull over at a rest top, Hopefully you have a can opener, then open and WHa-La.... Piping Hot Goodness, Real Good Eating, ..wink.

Hope Today finds you and your Family well.

Imagine rest area restrooms with no one to sanitize/clean them.

Do you have to cash out to do the RMD? I thought I could transfer other assets to fulfill the requirement without having to do it in cash.

It comes out in "cash" and you can do whatever you want with it after you pay the income tax on it.  :(

Although you are supposed to withdraw a certain amount at 70 1/2 a change was instituted I think last year or 2018. If you turn 70 1/2 after 2019 you do not have to take the withdrawal until April 1 after you turn 72.
