Maybe that?s why the don?t build them like that anymore.
 
Actually they do build them like that still. Any Prevost will beat the crap out of that ashtray.

WOW, That's gorgeous!

Single axle trailers can run up to around 7000 lbs, but for most purposes it's a smarter design choice to use tandem axles anywhere above around 3000 lbs. More stability, better balance, and extra tires in case of a blow-out.
