Wake up Indiana, It's time,

Most of the folks I know who look for those don’t tell another soul. I once asked a guy talking about his morels where I picked them. He was quite irate that I was trying to “steal his patch.” I had to tell him I was just wondering what county, not the specifics! I am not sure he believed me. Morel hunters can be quite territorial.

That's the biggest one I found. Brown County State Park Indiana. In the area of the campgrounds. I don't hesitate telling where I find them, I'm quite sure for every one I find,, thousands go unnoticed.
Many decades ago a couple friends would drive into Michigan and find them by the basketfull. They usually brought home the pickup bed full of baskets. They had a way of canning them in recycled pickle jars; they wouldn't share that secret.

jackiemac, that looks like about 3 good meals for two. Bacon N eggs N mushrooms, YUM!
I don't pick the round smooth ones; however I do pick elephant ears when found. They are not as good as morels though IMO.

back in the 70's one of the guys I worked with lived in Salem Ind. and he could bring in a grocery bag full of the Christmas Trees. he had a little woods down the street and by now it's probably under pavement.

Some bright spark cut down the gorse bushes and they ended up on top if one of the best spots for the chanterelle mushrooms so we dont get so many now. Ceps are usually big but often eaten by the bugs!

Guy at the bar said his second wife just died. Someone said that's terrible, what happened to your first wife. He replied she ate poison mushrooms. Dang what about your second wife? Head injury.... Head injury???? Yea, she wouldn't heat her mushrooms!
