DH and I are getting ready to purchase our first Class A motorhome.  We plan to use it for a month at a time or so as much as 6 months out of the year.  DH wants to see the country!

We have narrowed our search down to an '07 Tiffin Allegro 30DA, 35,000 miles with a Banks Power Pac asking $49,900 and an '08 Winnebago Sightseer 29R, 25,000 miles also with a Banks asking $56,000.  Both are very clean, well maintained, need new tires and seem to be pretty well priced (assuming there is a little wiggle room with both).  We are leaning toward the Tiffin... any thoughts about either?  Thanks you for any input.

Hi Lynette...

We've owned a Tiffin product for 12 years and it's been a great coach, but we're about to sell it and our first choice to replace it (so far) is a Winnebago. They're both solid manufacturers who have been around for a long time so I don't think you'll be unhappy with either (assuming you're right about their condition). My suggestion would be to make your best offer on the one that has the floorplan you like the most and go for it. You can always add gizmos and other things later if you'd like, but the floorplan is something you're pretty much stuck with.

IMHO at that age the manufacturer is meaningless. The floor plan, condition and price are the important factors to me. Both Tiffin and Winnebago make great coaches and both have a lot of fans so a popularity contest is meaningless. Both manufacturers have been in business forever but that point is meaningless compared to how well they have been maintained.

Either OK, esp if cost not a concern.  Either will require repairs.  We have a Tiffin 06 Allegro Bus 39', two slides, and love it most of the time.  Have been on the road and in Mexico for the past three months, looking forward to more travel adventures.  Our engine is a 400 Cummins which tows our Jeep without any issues at all.  Just be sure you like all the systems and amenities and ease of operation and happy travels.
