Got 25% rim sleep after the weekend away. Returned home at about 7:00 PM yesterday and saw the American Flag Flying at half-staff. We parked the RV and slowly walked back inside. I was off to Dreamland at about 10:00 PM.

Up at 6:30 AM today I walked out to the Flagpole, slowly lowered the colors, and paused the Flag at the bottom for a 13 count. Began slowly raising our Flag back to full Staff.

Welcome Back Home to everyone who remembers and thanks for remembering my friends. May God Bless and keep safe, all of our Gold Star Families around the world.

To any Veteran RV Members here and everywhere Thank You one and all, for your Military Service as we reflected on those who have fallen.

Do any of you happen to have a United States of America Flag, picture with your RV?

So many folks do not know what Memorial Day signifies. We live a few miles from Dover AFB. Dover is where the remains of fallen military are brought for processing. I worked at the base for several years. When remains are flown in Security Forces are stationed along the route from the flight line to the mortuary to stop traffic. I interviewed the woman in charge of the mortuary and she gave me a tour. It was a very emotional experience.

True sadly many have no understanding of the word Memorial. But it refers to something serving to preserve remembrance or being commemorative. Good a few of us still know for them who don't or want.

Dusty, you didn't mention raising the flag to full staff before lowering. Did I miss something?

Once in a while young people surprise me. Several years ago on Memorial Day I was standing at the Veterans of all wars memorial on the county courthouse square; remembering those who wrote a blank check. ( a few were cashed)
A young woman (college student) walked up to me, gave me a hug and thanked me for my service. I was so atakenback I could only smile, but by then she was walking away.
My mom traced our continuous family military history back to the revolutionary war. Oddly she also found relatives who served in the British Army.
