Nowthat the pump is fixed, next up is the toilet.

Thetford Aqua Magic Series II.  All is well EXCEPT
1.  The pedal does not return to closed without some help.  Spring feels strong.  There is a small piece cracked off of the pedal where the spring fits into the pedal. ??
2.  Pedal refuses to remain attached to the toilet.  I have installed it several times, last time with a hammer to make sure it was on tight.  Off again.

Will a new pedal fix this?  I already spent $35 for the flush ball and  drive arm.  The foot pedal is $45.  This is approaching half the cost of a new tall ELONGATED unit.  I hate to spend the money without some assurance this will fix the problems.

The unit works fine when I activate the flush valve and water valve manually.

We had this issue on our old motorhome toilet.  The toilet was removed when a service facility replaced the gray tank.  When they reinstalled it, the spring didn't work properly.  We purchased a new pedal and tried to install it.  Never got it on properly.  At the end of the day I concluded the only way to get the pedal on was to remove the toilet, place it on its side and push, or hammer, it in place.  There was no way to get any decent leverage on the toilet while it was in place.  For the last year of ownership, we just pushed it down and pulled it up by hand.

Sounds like the toilet I had. After pounding the handle on a number of times, I just replaced the toilet (new handle didn't help).

Gary, If I could get the pedal to stay on, I would do that!  Now, I get down on my knees (OUCH) and move the flush valve and water valve with my hand.

Ernie:  Thanks!

What brand toilet did you have, Domenic or Thetford?

Yeah, just replace the toilet. You will be happier if you do. Cost on a new toilet is really not that high, and then you have new.

We had our local RV shop replace the ball valve on our Thetford aqua-magic 2 with foot pedal, and it never worked properly afterwards.  The spring would not return the ball to the closed position. Lifting It Up by hand is not that sanitary, and lifting It Up by foot tends to twist the toilet on its mounts.

I took it back, and they credited me the $350 I spent to get it fixed towards installing a new one. I made money on the deal. :)

Just buy a new one . You also get a new toilet seat and cover. :)

I like the Sealand 500. You might look on eBay to see what is available. I noticed this one, SeaLand rv toilet 302-421003 New  Approx, $285. You should be able to get a better price.
