Just an heads up, Anyone planning on going to visit Tom Sawyer RV Park in Memphis Ar in the near future, better think twice about going. According to their Web Site, the provided link for the National Weather Service, they predict that it looks like it’s going to be underwater starting 4/8/25 to 4/24/25. The Mississippi River is going to overflow because of all the rain recently.

This is very common. I went there about 15 years ago and arrived there a week after a flood. They go around removing all the electrical boxes from the pedestals. They have a bathhouse built on wheels which allows them to pull it up to higher ground until the water recedes

We've been there a few times - great place, but always good to check as @Rene T has reported - things can change pretty fast!

Thanks R!

Hmmm... makes me wonder if there should be a thread for such APBs that might delete itself after a day or so automatically - or have a timer the poster could set. Such as for an accident closing down a major interstate that would be re-opened in 4 hours... Major national park being closed due to no personnel for two weeks, etc.

Sorry to hear that, and I hope they're able to recover. IIRC they're pretty much on the river bank. I've read numerous good reports of that park. The one time we were headed there, we found ourselves driving through the not-so-good part of town, and we opted to turn around and go elsewhere. Later, folks here on the forum told me "you should have kept going".

You were in West Memphis, Ark., Memphis is in TN. and yeah, it's a rough town much like East St.Louis is to St. Louis.

They don’t have flash flooding like you would think. They know days before it’s going to happen.
They have plenty of time, like I said earlier, to remove all the pedestal boxes. They must have around 150 boxes to remove

I know, we were there ;). Crossed the river and stayed across the street from Graceland.

Arkansas has been getting hammered with rain/Thunderstorms and Tornados. If your planning on any camping in the area you should check with the park(s) before arriving.
Be safe out there.

Just went through W. Memphis week before last and rain was on and off then. Lately I've heard torrential rains falling on the AR/TN border. If it's not underwater it certainly will be muddy!

Love that place and have been there several times with no problems. And that flooding takes place almost every year, so they have preparation and putting things back in place down to a science. I would not hesitate to go there even a few days after they get things in place again.
