Couldn?t find another area for this so I?ll try here. I have a 2017 Chevy 3500 dually that I tow my 5th wheel with. I put a auxiliary tank in it with the kit to keep the main tank full. The problem is that my fuel gauge keeps going back to empty. And now my ck engine light is on. Anyone else have this setup and experienceing the same problem?

That is strange. If the Aux tank automatically pumps into the main fuel cell it should keep the float up in the tank. How are you feeding the Aux tank to the main? is it a gravity vent feed or electric feed? If it is electric feed where and how did you wire the transfer to turn on and off to supply main tank. I am guessing if you wired a transfer pump it may be messing up some electrical sensors depending on where you tied into. If this is gravity fed I am not sure. Unless you have a loose connection or ground after your install on the fuel gauge sender. Just some thoughts without further info.

It?s gravity feed. Im going to just cut off the fuel from the aux tank and when im stopped I?ll open it back up. BTW if I disconnect the batteries and hook them back up the fuel gauge and ck engine light go off. I?ll be back home monday and I?ll make an appt to have it checked out. Thanks

Check the vent (s). A loose gas cap will light the check engine light and I'd expect any air leak could cause the same indication.

I agree with Ernie. You probably have a leak. The tanks now are under pressure and have a fuel tank pressure sensor. When the new lines were added they probably did not get sealed. Also the aux tank should have a vent. If you leave the valve open the tank won't pressurize. Leave the valve shut and see what happens. If it still throws the light it is past the valve. Still not sure on your fuel gauge though. Unless like I said it was disconnected and didn't get connected tight when hooked back up

I think Ernie nailed it.  Because the tank is not holding pressure, the computer goes bonkers.  Make sure the transfer hose is well sealed, then fill from the aux only when stopped.

Buy a titan tank replacement extra large fuel tank to replace the factory tank and save the hassle
Oops sorry the website says they dont make a replacement for your truck - you may have to call them. They usually make a replacement for the factory tank which doubles the capacity, and its all undervthe under the truck freeing up the box
