Towing With a 2026 Toyota Tundra CrewMax

Picking up 2026 CrewMax 3.5L twin turbo on Saturday to replace my 2022 tacoma. The Tacoma did the job, but it was 3500+ rpm on east coast mountains (which are mounds compared to Midwest). After a tire chain did something when doing brakes to create vibrations that could not be resolved, I upgraded.

Anybody towing with Tundra who would like to comment?

There used to be a company (Wil-RO) I think in Canada who sold a line called "Trail Hauler"

The smaller "Local delivery" Peterbuilts with RV size 5th wheels and electric brake controllers instead of air brakes. for the trailer (may have had air as well I( don't know)

For the RVer who NEVER wanted to ask "Can my truck tow this"

As I recall there is a Monty Python skit where a compact car tries to tow a very NOT compact boat up a hill while a Bicyclist taking a rest watches.

Alas multiple tries and no joy. I think It's been posited in these forums in the past.

I once ran into a couple of full timers who were towing a fiver with an 18 wheel Mack truck cab. Way too much truck. I must be a nobody.

I saw a similar rig a few years ago but the truck had tandem axles and the 5er had 3 axles. I can't imagine trying to drive that through a campground

Towing large 5'vers with Class 7 or 8 tractors is not all that uncommon. The Escapees forum has an HDT section devoted entirely to them.

Funny, at a campground recently I saw a guy with a 4X4 lifted diesel dually with a teardrop camper hooked up to it. There was probably more room in the back seat of the truck!

Hopefully they had a big drop hitch on the dually or that teardrop would be dragging its tail!

Sort.of depends on what you are towing (unless I missed that...) I'm towing a Jayco 19MRK @ 6,400 GVWR with a 2023 Tundra 1794 Edition - 6 cyl, twin turbo. No problems whatsoever.

Ok...first run with tundra was awesome. 300 miles NJ to NH 11.5 mpg with so much less stress about hitting 3500rpm to make it up hills. Only hit 2500rpm twice for short bursts to maintain 65

Ok...first run with tundra was awesome. 300 miles NJ to NH 11.5 mpg with so much less stress about hitting 3500rpm to make it up hills. Only hit 2500rpm twice for short bursts to maintain 65

I towed 7000lbs with an older V8 tundra for many years, they are quite capable. biggest problem is payload.
