We have 24 ft Class C Born Free on a Ford E-450 and pull a long trailer behind it. Now we are considering a 27 ft long Class C, also on Ford E-450 so it has 2 1/2 ft longer overhang behind rear axel.
Will it trailer as good, better, worse? Anyone has experience to share?
Thank you.

The longer "tail swing" will cause the trailer to follow the M/H around corners better,, but the increase in tail swing will have to be allowed for.>>>Dan

Another thing to check is to look under the rear behind the rear wheels and make sure that if you have a boxed frame extension, that it is solidly braced.

Welcome to The RV Forum!

It appears the wheelbase is similar on both RVs with the difference in length being accomplished by extending the rear overhang.

This will let the trailer track more closely in turns as the overhang moves the hitch towards the outside of the turn.  But it also increases the leverage side forces have on the direction of the tow vehicle so you may need to add some kind of anti-sway device.

The extra leverage also increases the effects of tongue weight on the motorhome's suspension.  You may want to look at an equalizing hitch depending on the trailer's tongue weight and the amount of weight it lifts off of the motorhome's front end.

The bumper extension on my '05 Born Free is a bit scary. Attached are a couple of photos showing what I did to beef it up. Check the tow specs on the coach you will be buying and take a look underneath.
