On my Allison transmission I would like to install a new spin on filter, how much fluid will I lose? Just what’s in the filter? Thanks in advance 😁

Your fluid level will go down by the internal volume of the filter plus whatever leaks out of the lines while you're connecting it. It's easy to check the level when you're done and top off as required.

According to what I am finding the 2008 Monaco Monarch series is built on either a Ford F53 chassis with a V10 engine and a 5 speed (I would presume a Ford automatic), or a Workhorse chassis with the 8.1L gas engine and the Allison 1000 transmission. The 1000 series is the model used behind the GM 6.6L Duramax and the GM 8.1L big block gas engine.

I assume your monarch on a Workhorse chassis with the 8.1L gas engine?

Google is telling me you only will lose a pint or so on Allison spin on filter changes on the 1000 and 2000 series.

Why are you just replacing the filter? Have you replaced the transmission fluid?

I've replaced both my fluid and transmission spin-on filter five times over the past 20 years. I always drain the fluid first before removing the filter so I don't know how much fluid would be lost in just changing the filter.

Are you using Allison TranSynd (currently TES668, formerly TES295) or its equivalent, or Dexron, replaced about 2005 by the TranSynd?

The TranSynd has a greatly extended change interval, provided the spin on filter is replaced on a schedule. I'm not totally familiar with the details but have read enough over time to know this is what Allison recommends.

Fluid and Filters, change recommendations, filters, etc, all models.
