Your fluid level will go down by the internal volume of the filter plus whatever leaks out of the lines while you're connecting it. It's easy to check the level when you're done and top off as required. On my Allison transmission I would like to install a new spin on filter, how much fluid will I lose? Just what’s in the filter? Thanks in advance![]()
Yes Allison 1000 2008 Monaco monarch. Is it the Allison 1000?
Year make and model would help.
Yes correct..thanksI assume your monarch on a Workhorse chassis with the 8.1L gas engine?
Are you using Allison TranSynd (currently TES668, formerly TES295) or its equivalent, or Dexron, replaced about 2005 by the TranSynd? Why are you just replacing the filter? Have you replaced the transmission fluid?
I've replaced both my fluid and transmission spin-on filter five times over the past 20 years. I always drain the fluid first before removing the filter so I don't know how much fluid would be lost in just changing the filter.
