HI Everyone,

I would love to know any small out of the way RV parks along the coastline. We enjoy hiking, kayaking and wildlife viewing. We have never been up the coast and would appreciate any interesting places you might have been. We will be traveling next June-August. Thanks
I can offer off the beat and path places for AZ,ID & NV, if anyone is looking.

                    Thanks to all, TAZ

TAZ,

In the library there are articles on Oregon,The Oregon coast,Oregon's Highway 101, that have a lot of good places.  We especially like Bandon and florence but there are lots more too.

Enjoy,

Jim is right. Click on the Library button above, select Places to see & things to do and you'll see a couple of detailed articles on the Oregon coast written by forum members.

I imagine this tip is already in the library; but for my two cents worth, you can't go wrong at any of the Oregon State Parks. We camped last year at Cape Lookout. Great location, wonderful park and the most reasonable prices anywhere. Full hook ups for $16.00. Of course it was off season, but I think the price only goes up by $3.00 during prime season.
The parks aren't in it to make money, so the sites are well spaced and very private, mostly with hedges around each individual site.
Can't say enough, so I'll stop!
Have a great trip!!

Good advice and I agree with everything you say about Oregon state parks.

At Ft. Bragg, Pomo RV Park and Cap CG is a lovely old fashioned woodsy site.  Down at Tomales Bay, Olema Ranch CG is big and busy but well sited and nicely forested.  Both have websites.

5 miles S of Yachats:sea perch rv park

treeless, right on the coast. Good for Green flash and whale viewing.

Brookings has several parks down by the docks and one right off the beach.  I also like Florence, just stayed there last week at the port over looking the docks and river.  Short walk into old town with some of the best small restruants.  Jeannie and I are thinking of moving there when the youngest gets out of school in two years.  I'll post pics tomorrow.

Hi, I just happen to live on the Oregon-Calif border right on the coast. Have lived on the oregon and Ca coast all my life. Outside of Brookings oregon is a great state park called Lobe Park, signs are just south of the chetco bridge you cant miss it. Very nice spot on the river with hookups and hot private showers. In August you can pick your own blackberries right in your own space. Beautiful and often warmer than the coast. It is inland about 8 miles off hwy 101. Great for family or just a couple. Just north of Gold Beach is a nice rv park called Honey Bear. If you like food and song this is quite a treat. Coos Bay has a nice Rv park Lucky Loggers right on the bay and close to down town. Coos Bay also offers free parking at the Casino just North through town on right off 101. Oh, I forgot, go south to Crescent City and take 101 to 199 and get reservations first if you plan on camping in the summer, to Jed Smith Camp ground, beautiful park with lots of Redwoods. If you are planning to be in a specific area let me know and I will tell you everything you need to know, (hopefully)  Happy Trails, Wilde Ps I will be in Arizona in a couple of weeks any thing you can suggest would be appreciated. THankyou

Wilde, I grew up in Brookings in the early 70's, it sure has changed, some good, some bad.  Lobe is a great park, we spent a week there in August and picked berryies right in camp.  The only drawback is that there isn't a sewer hook up in the park.  Harris Beach at the north end of Brookings is very nice with full hook ups and cable is a few spaces.

Ok one more post and I'll shut up.  If you do make the southern Oregon coast, make sure to go to Gold Beach and take one of the jet boat trips.  Take the all day trip, more wildlife (ospray, eagle, deer  bear & more) to be seen and you can have lunch at one of the out of the way lodges or spend the night.
