Hello everyone,

I'm trying to help a friend in Florida who's motorhome was damaged by the hurricanes last year. She found this part, Trombetta 114-1211-010, that is very corroded on the outside and she will replace with help. Seems to be a solenoid that helps make sure all the batteries are charged. The question she has is this; Is there anything else in the circuit they should look for that may need repair before they hook up to power to charge batteries or try to start the engine? The motorhome is a 2009 Fleetwood Discovery.

I know it's hard to help me help her but any insight helps.
Thank you.

The Trombetta relay on our Monaco coach specifically turns on and off some of the 12 volt circuits on the house side, nothing to do with the chassis cranking batteries. See this thread. Hopefully someone having experience with the Fleetwood Discovery will add info more specific to that coach.

Easy to replace but remember that there's very high current involved.

I replaced mine several years ago. The contacts inside it were completely burned.

Trombetta is a brand name and there are other companies that make the same or similar parts which will work. The key is the ratings of the relay(solenoid).

Just looking at things may identify some possible issues but to know what she has or needs to replace requires the use of a multimeter and the help of someone familiar with the use of them. It certainly won't hurt anything to look and is a good idea but there may be problems that a visual inspection will not reveal.

Is the OP referring to a solenoid like this? Possibly with only one of the small terminals?

If that is the case, I'm going to suggest the Cole Hersee 24213 which is 200 amp rated continuous and has silver/tungsten contacts rather than plain copper. It is commonly used as a replacement on the Winnebago motorhomes and other brands because it is a much more robust solenoid.

It doesn't quite look like that, but replacing the part isn't this question as they can find that. They are concerned about the parts at the other end of the wires that come into here. They are wondering if anyone know what attaches to this so they can check those parts for corrosion/replacement before they add any voltage/current to the system.

That relay connects to the lower right hand corner of the circuit board in the BCC (Battery Control Center). Follow the small wire on the relay to the black box (BCC). The BCC may also be damaged from the flood. The BCC may be manufactured by RV Custom Products or Intellitec.

Trombetta is a brand name, a replacement only has to have the same wiring terminals and functions. Just remove that old solenoid, walk into an auto parts store and tell them to match it.
