I don't know, analogies can be good for some people. I had a guy at work who landed a job in IT but had no qualifications or experience; Cornell degree in hospitality. Anyway, I soon learned that the only way I could get him to understand certain principles was to give him an analogy. It got to the point he would ask for them and said it helped him understand.

I had a boss who insisted you don't need to know what your people do, just that they get it done.
He learned about the need to listen, the hard way. If you don't listen to your people telling you what they need, morale crumbles quickly, and then you get resentment, inferior performance, talent walking away.

Yes, I figured that everybody here probably knew an outhouse as equaled 1018 sheds = 10−34 square metres (m²) = 10−4 square femtometres (fm²) = 10−30 square centimetres (cm²) versus just stating it as 1.0×10−6 barns. A much simpler comparison of measurement.

Yep -- and when I started with AT&T was the first time I'd heard the decimal point referred to as "dot," as in "nine dot one" for 9.1, though I've since heard it in other places.
