yes, likely, most do. Some don't have charger circuitry and I suspect yours doesn't.

This new TV works fine at home on a regular outlet & in the RV if powered by shore power or generator as stated in my text above. 2 older TVs that i tried worked fine with the inverter. Only this new TV does not. What is that telling me? Most likely that this new TV doesn't play nice with the modified sine inverter. I don't have a pure sine inverter yet so i won't know how/if that will work until i buy one & find out

I doubt that, I would say that the vast majority of inverters under about 1,000 watts do not include an integrated transfer switch.
From the installed inverter manual:
"When the external 120 VAC is supplied, the internal transfer switch is automatically activated, the ext. Power LED will light and the inverter will turn off. The inverter can not be turned on when the transfer switch is activated"
The manual says that this feature is only on units with the "T" option.

I have no doubt that your old one may be wired that way, all I am saying is this is a VERY rare feature for smaller inverters, and not all that common even on inverters in the 1,000 - 2,000 watt range, accounting for perhaps around half of the units out there in the 2,000 watt size range.

Tell me about it... I'm having a heck of a time seeing smaller inverters with the T switch at the dimensions i need. If you hear of something small I'd appreciate it if you let me know. Do you think I could use a larger capacity inverter even if it will only power the TV?

You probably could, but then they will consume more power, the simplest thing is just to always run the TV off the inverter, and let the battery charger / converter take care of keeping the batteries maintained. There really is not much sense in having a transfer switch on an inverter this small.

The Dimensions inverters of the era, that Winnebago installed, have the "T" option. Might not be common in off the shelf inverters, but that isn't what the OP has.

The issue is not so much what the OP has, as how to move forward
@ennored .. Yes, i do have the T option as i had indicated a few posts before your own.
Moving forward if i change to a PSW w/o the switch I'm hoping there's a wiring block near the inverter so i can remove the shore power wiring that I'm sure must be connected to the inverter. That would leave only the wiring to the duplex & house batteries to the new inverter....right? The inverter & house batteries are on opposite sides of the coach which would make a long run between the two.

figured i'd show my finished project after buying a 32" samsung tv that works great with the step inverter that winnebago installed in this 2008 rig. i made a new frame & stained it, so it's not a bad match. i attached the new frame with velcro & it's very solid (we've been on a few trips with it since).
