Heading for AZ via the southern route and staying in the San Antonio area for 2 to 3 days...

Think of staying Hidden Valley RV Park at 5706 Coleman Way, Von Ormy (just south of the I 410 Outer Belt off of I35)

Any info about the place??

Questions for the Texans (and other who have visited there) .. what else should the DW and I plan on seeing?
Panning on seeing the Alamo and the Riverwalk.

Would you suggest that we take the trolley that will let you off and back on?

Hemisfair park and Tower of the Americas
Japanese Gardens
Spanish Governors palace
Ripley's museum

Day trip up to Austin.....

Have fun.

Thanks for the ideas.  Yeah, we're hoping for warmer weather.. high was 47 degrees in Casa Grande, AZ. today...  It was that warm here in Ohio.

Take a cruise on one of the River Walk boats.

The Alamo is pretty cool also.

If you are a Military Retiree, it has a ton of stuff to do on the military bases and at one time there was a USO somewhat near the Riverwalk.

We lived and worked in San Antonio for 5 months.  We stayed at the Blazing Star RV Resort and were really happy with everything there.  Clean, great new laundromat.  Friendly staff too!  We enjoyed taking rides on the weekends out to the outer areas like Lukenbach...free music, good food and beer!  Also, Shlitterbaun was fun, huge water park!  And of course Bucky's, the biggest gas station I've ever seen.  The store alone was a trip!!!  We loved Texas and would go back in a minute!!! ENJOY!

If you want to stay closer to downtown, Traveler's World is a PA park within a 10 minute, or so, drive to the Alamo and River Walk. Not fancy but decent. It's also close to the other missions which are interesting to visit.

And the bus to downtown stops right at the entrance.

Places to visit.
Other missions in San Antonio area.
Visit war museum of the Pacific in Fredricksburg.
Visit Luchenback Texas, Waylon, Willy and the Boys.

The Greune Area of New Braunfels is a nice little stop for a few hours.  Visit the little shops and historic Greune Hall.  Might be a good stop on the way back from a day trip to Austin.  The food in the area is excellent.

The Gristmill restaurant in Gruene is the best place to eat in the area.

They have a website if you do a web search! I never stayed there but I follow their newsletter. Tell Terry Blasckhe Howdy for me!

Edit: Fixed quote.

Hey, thanks to everyone for the tips... Still undecided were to stay.  DW want cable for TV so she's pushing for Traveler's World.  I'm kinda hoping for a relaxing several adult beverages around the campfire and, maybe, meeting some new friends.
