VW shelves EV bus

We bought our last VW product in the late 90s. It was a Wolfsburg Edition vanagon water boxer. Within the first 20K miles the engine had suffered 2 catastrophic failures. The first was a piston failure caused by a failed wrist pin clip. The second was a rod failure that destroyed the entire engine. It tore the whole crankcase apart. We replaced it with an F250 Power Stroke diesel. Best decision ever.

the Buzz was/is way overpriced. I laughed when I saw the suggested price.

VWs were legendary. As in legend only. They never lived up to their reputation. The reports of them going 100,000 miles always included repairs along the way. But the owners were too stoned to remember. They were a cult vehicle just like EV. The combination of the 2 couldn't have been a good idea.

The Beetles served a purpose and got many a poor student through school and were a lot of fun to drive.

The TDIs were some of the best economical cars ever made. My 2015 Golf Sportwagen was fun to drive and very stingy on a gallon of fuel and probably had less environmental impact than a new EV. If it weren't for the fact we had 5 vehicles and the TDI was not comfortable on long trips for my 6,3" 220 lb frame I wouldn't have sold it, I miss it's easy city driving and parking, dependability and chump change fillups. But I'm not Jay Leno so I needed to trim the stable.

When VW got spanked hard by the EPA they vowed never to bring another diesel to the US and instead focused on EVs. Wonder what they'll focus on now? Personally I wasn't very impressed with their newer gasoline offerings.

On my 3rd Bug throughout many years. This one is Jalapeño orange — so I can find it in a parking lot. 🤪 Best comments are when my very tall 6’5” son borrows it and then unfolds when he gets out. People always smile.

This doesn't sound like the ID is going away to me.

"'We’re leveraging current inventory of 2025 models early in the year in 2026 and moving straight to Model Year 2027 later in 2026. There are no changes in the vehicle for MY2026,' Ginivan said, adding that the company does have “sufficient inventory” of 2025 models to meet demand."
