We've used this tool dozens of times now, and speaking from my experience I'd wager it's accurate roughly 90+% of the time.

We still call ahead first before planning any overnights just to be certain, as the privilege to overnight at all Walmart locations if granted or denied by the store manager at each location.

When we were traveling I always called ahead after looking at the parking lot on Google maps. I called one store that looked like it had a small parking lot. The woman who answered said no overnight parking, we share a parking lot with a strip mall, I thanked her and said goodbye.
Walked in once and asked, the mgr., he told me where to park and to be gone by 8AM when the auto tire store opened. When my alarm sounded at 6AM I looked out the windows to find I was surrounded by semi's and 3 MH's.
Everyone was polite and left me a driving lane out. We dressed, ate breakfast, watched the weather on a local station and I was gone by 07:30.
When we were MH shopping, the #1 priority was, everything had to be usable when slides were retracted.

Heard some rumblings that more and more walmarts are not allowing the overnight camping in their lots, any truth to this?

RV Parky app shows who do and don't. In general, if it's a densely populated area, no camping. Get 50 miles away from a city and most do allow. Works out well because you really don't want to boondock a Walmart in a bad area anyway.

I use the AllStays ONP Walmart app. A bit easier to use than the linked web site.
