I have a Winnebago Lite 5. I have been living in it for the past 5 months. I haul water and transfer it into the fresh water tank so I have been using the water pump. Over the last few weeks I?ve noticed that the water pump will come on a few times per day just for a second. I didn?t give it much thought. Today, I sat down on the sofa and the carpet is wet in one spot. The sofa is in the slide out between the hot water tank and the kitchen where the water pump is located. How do I determine where the leak is coming from without ripping up the floor. There has been no rain in months so that?s not it. Thanks for any suggestions!

That will be a hard one to answer. You're going to have to troubleshoot a little bit at a time until you can find the source. The leak could be anywhere.
Do you see any water under the RV?

No water under the RV. I looked behind the hot water tank and i do see some water in a place that I am not able to access. I guess it is the water heater leaking. I guess I?ll call myself lucky that I am winterizing soon and I?ll put a call into the repairman. Ugh.

Do not accuse the water tank too quickly.  When we looked at our FW, there was a soft spot in the kitchen floor, which we were advised of before we saw the unit, and told he would not sell until it was fixed.  Our floor plan is such that, going forward from the soft floor, you hit a cabinet containing the HWH (suspect #1), then the shower in the bathroom, the toilet, then bedroom.  The HWH was fine; the shower was the culprit. Incoming water line, I believe.  Water can travel some distance.

Check the pop off valve on you hot water heater.

When you say pop off valve I assume you mean the temperature/pressure relief valve on the outside of the water heater. If that valve opens, how would that water get into the RV?  It's on the outside of the heater and would just run down the side of the RV.

Water heater is super easy to test... BYPASS it. if the symptom goes away. DIAGNOSTIC. if not. then not... My water heater sprung a major leak. Since the tank is only a bit over a year old I think it got punctured but will investigate later. For now drain it, Disable it and bypass it and use alternative means to heat water for dishes etc.
